The Year of the Jelly

Jun

I’ve avoided making jelly for a long time. I’ve made all kinds of jams and butters, conserves and compotes. But jelly? I didn’t want to deal with the jelly bag. But now? With my new steam juicer? This is so the year of the jelly for me!!!

See Canned Coleslaw?! today at Farm Bell Recipes.

Where did you get that it is Beautiful. I have looked and looked around here. I too hate the Jelly bag and have a freezer full of cherries along with a tree full that would make some great jelly.

    8) Wow, that is just the prettiest color. You’ll love the jelly. Apricot with cream cheese on toast, have mercy! I also melt it (or peach)and put it over the top of my cheesecake with strawberries, just to glaze it. Shiny and pretty! Steam juicer looks like a wonderful kitchen gadget. May just have to look into one of those.

Looks great!!! I want a steam juicer too, but first I need a pressure canner. All I can do now is steam bath canning, but I am getting there!

Suzanne, you are such an inspiration! I have conquered many homesteading items on my list to do this summer because of your blog.
    Thanks!

at the risk of asking a very stupid question….Doesn’t a steamer waste a lot of your fruit? Or does it allow you higher yield than a jelly bag?

oh man, I made wild cherry jelly one year from all of the wild cherry trees on my farm and it was delicious but that jelly bag ~ forget it. notice I said ONE year. that was enough. now I want a steam juicer. Suzanne you have turned me on to some incredible things; this might be one of the very best.

What a work saving device! I haven’t seen one before.
Your apricot juice looks so delicious. I wish we could find sweet, juicy apricots that are affordable around here. The expensive fruit found in the supermarkets is usually a big disappointment.
    Happy jelly making, Suzanne!
