This recipe was written by a lady named Jane for a tiny Methodist church’s cookbook. My family loves it.

Difficulty: Easy

Servings: 6-8

Prep Time: 10 minutes   Cook Time: 1 hr.

Ingredients

2 lbs. hamburger (or you can use ground turkey or 1/2 of each)
1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix OR one small onion minced
1/4 cup ketchup
2 Tbsp cold water
2 eggs
3/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

Directions

Mix everything together with clean hands and shape into a loaf. I cook mine in a 9 x 13 pan unless it’s in the dishwasher, in which case I grab whatever it will fit in!

Bake in a 375 degrees preheated oven for 50 minutes. Put ketchup on top and put back in oven for ten more minutes. You might want to watch it the first time you bake it and see if your time needs to be adjusted a little.

I just might have to try this recipe. I’ve tried many over the years but have not hit on one we really liked. Perhaps this is going to be the one!

I have abused and abused this recipe many times over the years Mrs. Turkey…adding chopped bell pepper, shredded carrots, a can of drained tomatoes, even spinach. Whenever I get in the mood to be different…I experiment. I have only had an absolute disaster once with this recipe and that was because I had the heat hotter than I thought. It is a mosit meatloaf but holds together really well and the outside is good and brown.

Thanks for info. Next pay day I’ll have to buy some extra hambuger and give it a try.
I’m from maine by the way…..where are you located/

Thanks so much to you and the other person who answered my meatloaf request. That was my first request and I really have been wanting one for a while now. Y’all were fast too! Guess what we are having for dinner next week?

I made this recipe tonight. It was delicious! I used 1 lb. ground beef & 1 lb. lean ground turkey instead of 2 lbs. ground beef. I also accidentally mixed the ketchup in instead of keeping it to put on top. Gave the kids more to dip in. Super yummy!

  6. Melinda says:

Im glad you enjoyed it! And I am a dufus……the ketchup should be mixed in….additional ketchup is squirted on top. Sorry…first recipe I submitted I think lol
