Honey Bun Cake

A cross between honey buns and cinnamon rolls, this cake is delicious!

Difficulty: Easy

Servings: 24

Ingredients

1 box yellow cake mix
4 eggs
2/3 c. oil
1 c. sour cream
1 c. brown sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Mix cake mix, eggs, oil and sour cream together. Beat well. Pour half of mixture in a 13 x 9-inch, lightly greased pan. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle over batter in pan. Spoon rest of batter around on top of mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Punch holes in cake. Mix powdered sugar, milk and vanilla together. Pour over cake. If you like more icing on your “Honey Bun”, double up on the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla mixture and use as much as you like.

I made this cake for a bake sale at work and loved it! It went over well at the sale also. It is so easy to make, that I think next time I have a hankering for cinnamon rolls, I’ll make this instead. I prepared a double batch and baked two 13X9 pans. I did have trouble covering the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture with the other half of the batter as the recipe directs on one of the pans. But it turned out that I liked the pan with the cinnamon-sugar sort of mixed in better. Thanks for this recipe!

So glad you liked it. I refuse to make it very often because I eat way too much of it!
