UGH! It’s #%&$(@& Monday morning! I have to go back to work. View

  • I am every bit of Polish and love me some cabbage rolls! I make mine with lots of garlic, green peppers, and onions. I layer them with extra cabbage leaves, sometimes sauerkraut, and jars of canned […]

  • I plan on making a batch of pepper butter tomorrow using ClearJel(for the first time) – with flour I know how much to use to make it as thick as I like – using your recipe with ClearJel what is the consistency of […]

  • Liz – You can use a hot pepper as long as you remove all of the seeds and membrane – that is where the heat of the pepper comes from. If you would rather not fool with a hot pepper sweet banana peppers work well too. I have used a variety of peppers over the […]

My recipes are everywhere as I am organized-challenged. I have 3 recipe boxes, 2 school folders, a recipe journal, several notebooks, and one of those plastic tubs that slide underneath your bed filled with loose magazine clippings and handwritten recipes. I keep my most treasured and used recipes in one wooden recipe box my Baba […]

  • Pat, I use my CI on my glass top stove almost every day, never had any problems.

The bacon grease would only smoke and make a mess if you put too much on. You put on a thin coat and wipe any excess off. Too much can cause a gummy sticky residue too.

  • Be still my beating heart… I love my cast iron. I started collecting them back in my early 20’s and my collection has grown to some 30+ pieces. I keep some cast iron just for smoking foods. I’ll make a pot of BBQ beans, put the cast iron pot and all in the smoker. Now, […]

    Yes Ma’am.

That recipe is a fresh noodle recipe, it cannot be frozen, dried, or even kept for long periods in the refrigerator.

It is a very tasty recipe. I often make the finger noodles to make chicken and noodles.

I will post them as soon as I can. What kind of dumplings do you like, more of a noodle type dumpling or bread dumpling. I’m not a huge fan of the light and bready type dumplings. Oh Dede, I make a ham or bacon gravy that I usually serve over rice or mashed potatoes […]

No Ma’am, those are rolled dumplings but they are worth it. For quick dumplings you can pinch or cut off pieces of whomp (canned) biscuits into boiling water – they make fairly good drop dumplings depending on what brand/flavor you use. I have a standard recipe for drop dumplings: 1-1/2 C flour 1 egg 1/2 […]

It just so happens that I dug out my favorite dumpling, noodle, and pierogi dough recipe this morning. 2-1/4 C flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 egg 2 Tbsp butter, melted 3 heaping Tbsp sour cream 1/8 – 1/4 C warm water Mix it all together and knead on floured surface until smooth. Chill overnight or […]

Sorry – I went back and re-read your post – you ARE looking for whole hog head cheese…

I’ll see if I can talk someone out of their recipe.

Are you looking for a whole hog head cheese recipe?

My Baba or one of my Aunts might have an old one I can talk them out of…

  • I absolutely love zucchini!

  • I make “Cute as a Button Cookies”. These are so incredibly easy and irresistibly cute! Make your basic shortbread or sugar cookie dough, roll it out about 1/4″ thick and cut with a 2″ round cookie cutter. Now take a empty spice jar or shot glass that is about 1-1’2″ wide and press down gently […]

Praying for rain, the soybeans need it!

  • Strain beets from juice (save juice) and set aside. In small pot add beet juice, sugar, vinegar, and pickling spice. Bring to boil then lower heat to a low simmer. Simmer for about 5 – 10 minutes then remove from heat. In desired, nonreactive, container combine eggs, beets, onions, and beet juice mixture making sure […]

  • Stir together the water, salt, and cornmeal until well combined. Add a dab of butter. While constantly stirring, bring to a boil then reduce to a slow simmer. Cook until thickened and then a minute or so more. Spoon into a bowl, top with butter and a splash of cold milk. *If you’re feeling adventurous, […]

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees (F). Rinse tenderloin and pat dry with paper towels. Season with garlic salt and lots of pepper. Lightly sear entire tenderloin in skillet with oil over medium high heat. Remove tenderloin from heat, let slightly cool. Coat tenderloin with 1/2 cup of pepper butter. Roast in oven for approximately 50 […]
