  • I always seem to be chopping onions.

  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until evenly blended. Cover and refrigerate several hours for flavors to blend. Serve with crackers. You can make this into a cheese ball by rolling it in finely chopped nuts, but I am lazy and just use it as a spread.

  • I submitted Tuna Cheese Spread. It is a favorite snack food for special occasions. It looks like there are some wonderful recipes being submitted! I would love to win a pressure canner.

  • I love vintage cookbooks!

  • Mix ingredients in order given to make a soft but not sticky dough. Knead about 8 minutes. Let rise one time, about one hour. Punch down. Divide in two pieces. Roll each piece into a 16″ circle. Brush with melted butter. Cut each circle into 12-18 pie shaped pieces. (I like 16 pieces, which fit […]

  • I submitted Freezer Crescent Rolls. They are my family’s favorite, and it isn’t a holiday without them. Anytime I go to a potluck dinner, the organizer will say to me, “And would you mind terribly bringing your rolls?” They are easy to make and I have never given out the recipe and heard of a […]

  • One of my standbys is Hawaiian Haystacks. I use home bottled chicken, thickening the broth with cornstarch. Serve over rice, and top with pineapple, thawed frozen peas, grated cheese, chow mein noodles, chopped green onion, chopped celery, or whatever you have and like.

  • Glenda, I have an excaliber dehydrator and a grain mill (not a Nutrimill, but does the same job). They are both very important parts of my kitchen. With the dehydrator I preserve all those bits of fruits and veggies that might otherwise go to waste, plus make things like fruit leather and homemade raisins. My […]

Good post. I was so grateful for my well-stocked pantry when my husband lost his job 6 months ago. It was a total shock, as we always considered his job very stable. I can feed my family, and only shop for a few fresh items and loss leaders to replace items I have used. Yet […]

  • I feel so fortunate. My mother used her pressure cooker weekly, at least, and I have never had any fear of it. I didn’t think twice when I asked for a pressure canner for Christmas the first year I was married. Life would not be the same without all the veggies and meats in their […]

  • Oh, silly me, I’m a day off, I am not too late after all. hahaha

  • I don’t know if it is too late for the drawing, but either way, I love my hand blender. It is the best way to puree potato soup the way my dad used to.

  • I always think I should have a dough scraper, but have never gotten around to buying one.

  • Slowly beat softened butter until fluffy. Add seedless jam, beating until thoroughly mixed in. Wonderful on hot rolls or biscuits.

  • I posted a recipe for boysenberry butter. My family absolutely loves it, and even through I listed that it makes 32 servings, it goes really fast, and then everyone is looking around, saying, “Is there any boysenberry butter left?”
