For years I’ve been searching on-line for a homemade ‘onion onion’ recipe. I love the original but it’s so expensive. Once I got my Excalibur and a garden full of chives and scallions, I decided to try my own. This is the result. I am posting here for two reasons. First, I am hoping this will bring people to CITR, since to my knowledge there is no other recipe out there for it, yet there are tons of recipes on-line that use a similar seasoning mix. . Second, I am hoping you will help me tweak it. Going by the ingredient list, I know it’s not exact.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 5
Ingredients
6 Tbl minced dried onion (I use dehydrated Vidalias)
1 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp minced dried garlic
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbl sea salt
1 Tbl dried red pepper, minced
1 Tbl dried leeks, minced
1 Tbl dried parsley
1 1/2 tsp dried chives, minced
1 1/2 tsp dried shallots/scallions, minced
Directions
Combine together and store in an airtight container.
For dip, combine 2 Tbsp mix with 1 cup sour cream and chill to let the flavors meld.

Quick question: is the red pepper to be red chili pepper flakes or just regular sweet red bell pepper?
Either way would be great, but a tablespoon of red chili pepper flakes might make it pretty spicy for some…
Thanks for the recipe!

no, dried red bell pepper. It’s not meant to be spicy.
