A fast and easy fudge recipe with the complex wild flavor of black walnuts.
adapted from a (now forgotten) magazine recipe
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 12-16 squares
Ingredients
18 oz. semisweet chocolate chips (typically a bag and a half)
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
1/2 c. (or more) chopped black walnuts
Directions
Melt chocolate in top of a double boiler over hot water. Remove from heat, add sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, salt and nuts. Stir until smooth. Turn into a wax-paper-lined 8-inch square pan or pour into a wreath shape onto a wax-paper-lined cookie sheet. Chill. When firm, slice.
Note: Black walnuts have a stronger taste the traditional English walnuts, so you may want to taste before deciding how much to add.
