Blizzard!

Feb
6

Gigantic icicle and my proud kids who ripped it down from a cliff.

It’s cold here!!! :cold:

FIVE BELOW ZERO last night! Pipes in the kitchen froze. I am surviving like a pioneer. I toted all the dishes next door and put them in my cousin’s dishwasher. Luckily, water is still flowing in the bathroom and cellar porch. Meanwhile, we’re having a snowstorm tonight. Up to six inches by tomorrow, they’re saying. I’m finally gonna get my blizzard!!! The kids are looking forward to another day off school. I’ve got barbeque chicken and beans in the crockpot and french bread in the oven and I’m stocked up on toilet paper. I’m ready!! Spring seems far away….. Things still wintry in your neck of the woods?

It’s up to 10 degrees this morning here. It was 2 below when I got up yesterday to clean the car off to come to work. And we’ve gotten almost 2 feet of snow the last week and a half. Kids are bummed today . . . back to school after 2 snow days.

On the Texas coast, highs this afternoon will be in the clear 70′s, no wind. Grocery store down the block has a sale on ribeyes and charcoal.

    We’re cooking out!

DH is bringing home my favoriite wine.

Days like this make hurricane season a tolerabe tolerance.

    Stay safe and warm y’all.

Sorry about your water. I’ve not had any problems with mine, thank you Lord. It has been bitterly cold here:cold: but not a lot of snow. Only one day but it has been so cold the snow didn’t melt until today. I hope you have a better day today. That is a big icicle your kids have. Hugs to all.

Today it is a big 3 degrees in St. Paul, Minnesota, where we live, but I don’t feel the cold because we are vacationing in Texas where it is presently 82 degrees and sunny. I am so happy to NOT be home right now and can only hope it warms up (a lot) before we return.
    Wow! What a HUGE icicle.

I did! I saw the movie! Okay, I had to download it on iTunes because I missed the airing. And . . . I’m not sure what to say. The book is one of my all time favorites, but they made a lot of changes.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
