My desk today. Messy, huh?
I was pulling my daughter’s clothes out of the washing machine yesterday when I found a fork at the bottom of the washer.
“Why is there a fork in the washer?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” she said.
“It was in your load.”
“I didn’t put it there.”
Her brother didn’t eat her last piece of pizza, and none of them broke the bowl I found on the kitchen floor. Nobody did! And nobody ever knows who dribbled jelly all over the floor or let the cat in after I put him out or left their dirty socks on the living room floor.
It’s a mystery!!! I bet one of them messed up my desk…..

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

And of COURSE no one ever did those things. No one leaves their half full soda cans in the family room. No one leaves their dirty dishes on the counter instead of IN the dishwasher. No one broke the glass out of the picture that USED to be hanging on the wall…
