Oh my GOODNESS this is amazing!!

If you're ever poking through the pantry in search of something chocolate and reduced down to gnawing on the baker's chocolate…this should tickle you pink!  A chocolate cake cooked in a coffee mug in THREE MINUTES!!

Use the biggest mug you have and plan on adding a scoop of ice cream if you have it.  AND if you happen to have some espresso powder…a spoonful would be amazing mixed into the batter.

3 MINUTE CHOCOLATE COFFEE MUG CAKE
1 Large Coffee Mug (I used a mug big enough for soup)
4 tablespoons flour(that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips
Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.  Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of cream.  This is SO rich and plenty for two people.

Hubby says this ones a keeper! I made it last night and yup it only takes minutes. I didnt have a mug so I just cooked it in a bowl. He likes icing and for a quick fix I mixed 2 T powder sugar 1 t butter and a little milk and drizzled over it. I also fixed him some in little baggies to take back to school with him. I get to try it tonight for ME!

Georgia, I'm so glad you tried it!  I can't wait to try it with ice cream!  I , too, made mine in a bowl and it made SO much.  My husband ate his whole cake and had a tummy ache all night…(I wonder why the little piggy!!) )  About half is more than enough for the average person.  It's really rich…

sounds wonderful – i have one too.  I cant find my recipe and think it is at the church to copy and send Georgia – it is cake in a mug too.  but you use a cake mix any kind and put it in a baggie.  with instructions on the mug.  also in a separate baggy you put the icing which is powdered sugar and a flavoring like coco or lemon pudding.  it is unreal.  so good too.  I have put these in mugs with instructions and sold them at craft sales.  I cant remember the liquid part but think it is just water and oil.  You might look it up on the internet – cake in a mug.  i will find my recipe and post it soon.

great ideas

Ok – I just tried the cake – Oh my and Oh my again!!!! so wonderful.  Love it.  definitely for two.  some of the chips do no al melt in to the cake so it is goey too.  i had no milk and used water and i guess it turned out ok too.  i think you could package this to sell in mugs or give for christmas gifts too with an instruction card and what to add when they got home.  great idea for work too.  wow soooo good.

My sister in law was glad to get this recipe last night…she's a teacher and said she' post it on her Halloween board. My brother makes cakes in the microwave from the grocery store, so I know they'll love this. She wants to try it and I KNOW I will.

I got this recipe from tupperware.

1 box any flavor cake mix

1 can any flavor soda

Mix together in large micrwave safe bowl. Cook in microwave around 7 minutes.  Just watch it and reduce or add time if necessary.

OK heres a little microwave warning. Here I am just waiting till I could go bake my little cake. Smelled wonderful…3 minutes gave me a rubber hockey puck. Worked perfectly at home, but this must be a mighty powerful micro cause I think half the time would have done it. Oh well, theres still tomorrow.

Well if you worked in my office you could leave it in the company fridge and somebody would eat it.  Darn now you will have to settle for vending machine brownie.

I am going to try this recipe for dessert tonight with the family.  Wow sounds so simple and delicious.  Who can resist chocolate cake.

Canning and dehydrating will now become a part of my life.

I copied this for Shells from "The Farmhouse Table" forum.

"I tried this a while ago and was feeling peckish for a bit of chocolate cake so I tried it again tonight.  Its certainly not a gourmet chocolate cake, but it hit the spot in a pinch.  I may try to tweak it a bit next time."

Thanks Shells for reminding us about this fast way to cure a craving!
