Ok, I don't think I am repeating a recipe that has already been posted on the forum.

It is the best recipe either and it has a secret ingredient.  My oldest DS thinks these are the best ever!

Makes 16 dumplings

Ingredients:

2 tubes (8 oz. each) refrigerated crescent rolls

2 med. Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored

1 c. sugar

1/3 c. butter, melted (I use 1/2 c. butter)

3/4 c. Mountain Dew soda (I use 1 c. Mountain Dew)Shimmy

Unroll crescent rolls & separate dough into 16 triangles.  Cut each apple into 8 wedges.  Wrap a crescent dough triangle around each apple wedge.  Place in greased 9x 13x 2 baking dish.  In a bowl, combine sugar & butter (I do mine in a small sauce pan on the stove), pour over rolls.  (Do not stir).  Sprinkle with cinnamon.  Pour Mountain Dew between the dumplings (do not pour over the top of them).  Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 35 – 40 minutes or until golden brown.  Serve warm with ice cream.  (They are good without it too).  * You can reheat them in the microwave.

These are soooo good that I don't even make apple pie anymore!

OH SO glad you posted this- I lost track of it! I had heard so many great reviews of this recipe but never got around to trying it. Then lost the clipping and forgot about it until now. Coooooollllll it's here anytime I want it.

Thanks Susan! Hungry

If common sense were truly common, wouldn't there be more evidence of it?

Sounds interesting.  But Mt. Dew for cooking??  That has to be something!  But, it's a sugar base, and the steam would really cook the dough and apples nicely.

Pete, it is unusual for the Mountain Dew to be in cooking, but trust me, it helps to make best sauce to go with the dumplings.  You have to try these!!!  I think you will be pleasantly surprised.  Hungry

Certainly worthy of a trial!  It is rather amazing the uses folks find for soft drinks.  But will first have to actually buy one!    French
