This recipe is one my mom cut out from the newspaper almost 50 years ago. It has become our family's traditional cake for special occasions.
Chocolate Sour Cream Cake
1 cup boiling water
*2 sq unsweetened chocolate
(Combine the above and let cool)
Cream together:
1/2c soft butter
1 t vanilla
1 3/4 c brown sugar
2 eggs
In a separate bowl combine:
1 3/4 c + 2 T flour
1 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
Combine the cooled chocolate mixture with
1/2 c Sour Cream
Add in the creamed ingredients and the flour mixture.
Mix well
Pour into a greased loaf pan, lined with waxed paper
Bake at *325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes
Let cool for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire wrack and remove the waxed paper
Frost with chocolate butter cream frosting
