Yes, I'm almost certain that's what it is.  The directions say to run the blender on high for 5 minutes, which I did, then did it some more… and more… heh.  My blender is decent, but maybe not good enough.  Maybe your cousin could run it through the corn mill!  I have a cousin that has a grain mill too, but it's just not likely I'll get there with a bag of rice… No

One of these days I'll try it in the VitaMix.  While I really don't like coffee creamers of the powdered variety it's certainly worth giving a try.  For days when the electricity is out, for instance.

I wonder if a coffe grinder would work?

That's what I was thinking, Amanda, or a spice grinder…….. I also have a smoothie machine, which is a blender on steroids I'm going to try.

I wonder if it could depend on the type or brand of rice used,on how well it will crush up.

The instant rice might pulverize better?

I think my blender would pulverize the real rice. It pulverized the hard peppermint candies when I made the white chocolate/peppermint covered pretzels last C'mas. I'm gonna try the real rice. IF it doesnt wk I'll use the rest to make my Nana's rice pudding. (already in the community cookbook).SmileHmmm, might make that for the holidays anyway,I like it chilled!

I bought a small box of instant rice to give it a try.  Maybe in the next day or two.  I have a carton of real whipping cream to finish up first…   Devil

I read the back of the powdered creamer– thought I could get an idea of what the rice in this recipe is substituting in real powdered creamer…………..many, many ingredients, but the only one I understood was soy lecithin which was the very last ingredient listed.  Isn't that what we use in the dough enhancer?  I thought it was a natural preservative, but it's an emulsifier – holds things together………

This could get complicated, I think I'll wait until all the researchers get it down pat!!

Well, I got as far as buying some instant rice, but haven't experimented with this yet!  With heavy cream in the 'fridge, there really isn't any incentive…

LaughPete!

I made a batch using the instant rice,it pulverized great in only about 3mins. It's creamy, but I can taste the sugar and I dont like sugar in my coffee. I also would like it to whiten the coffee more. So, this time I'm going to leave the sugar out and put more powdered milk in and see hows it! The coffee's on the burner so I'm going to try another batch now!

Leah, you may need a little bit of sugar to offset the rice, or something, but perhaps not as much as they say…

This x I used no sugar, and 3/4 c of the powdered milk. Doesnt taste like Coffee Mate tho, more like one of the off brands. It'd be okay in a pinch. Now I'm dupin this cup out and using the real thing.Yes

I might try a T of sugar in what's left of the last batch and see if that does it. I'm drinkin the real thing now so that should help to compare it.

Not one to judge it at all here – since I don't like any of the "creamers" on the market that are not actually cream!

Well,now I just burnt my tongue.Surprised

IMO, use Minute Rice instead of real rice, add 2 more T of powd milk than what the recipe calls for and use only 1T of sugar. Let the coffee cool down before you taste test!Yes

P.S. Was going to say,I dont use liquid creamers because I like my coffee hot and dont want to "water" it down cuz I like it fairly strong.

I think I found a pretty good replica………I posted it over on Farm Bell Recipes!  Then I'll use the link above from busycooks to create the flavored creamer!
