Okay I wish I could take all the credit for this recipe but I got it from my neighbour. Here's the story:

Last spring a bunch of us are sitting on the curb drinking coffee, watchin' the kids play, when my one neighbour asks "would anyone like a cookie?"

Of course we all said 'sure'

She brings out a plate of cookies that looked good, but tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG so good

"where did you get these?" I asked

"I made them" she said

" Yeah right," I laughed, "You wish, are these from Starbucks?"

"no I made them"

"YOU did not; Did you get these from Loblaws?"

"I made them, I'll show you the recipe"

"Really? You Made them? Cuz I've been making cookies since I was 6 and I never made any that tasted like this"

" And it's a really easy recipe too" she replied with a smile.

So here it is the BEST, (not to mention easiest) Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe EVER!

and it only makes 2 dozen small cookies, or a dozen large, so it's a good size recipe:

Leanne's World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Beat until fluffy-1/2 cup shortening or margarine or butter

1/2 cup white sugar

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 egg

1 tspn vanilla extract (I just use water)

Mix together : 1 cup flour

1/2 tspn baking soda

1/2 tspn salt

Add to sugar/egg mixture

add chocolate chips

Bake on the middle rack 10-15 minutes depending on the size of your cookies at 375

cool on pan for a few minutes, put on cooling rack

Enjoy, and I do mean enjoy!

Would 4 cups choc chips be enough??   ;)

The story was great, too!

Dumb question time: Do you use Imperial measurements up there in Canada?

Hey Pete, I”m not sure (so embarrassed) what imperial measurements are, but for baking we use cups, temperature we use Celsius, gasoline we use litres, and most fabric we buy by the metre. Oh okay so for cooking most people do use imperial, and for most other things metric.

I thought I posted this in favorite cookie recipes, I didn't mean to make it it's own post.

lol all goes to the same place though :)

Thanks, anni.  It does make a difference.  There is not a great deal of difference between the Imperial and US measurements, but it can be a significant amount, especially in baking.

I am proud to be the new owner of a generous 4-cup measuring cup with metric, Imperial and US all on it.  Have been wanting one for a while so that I could try some Scottish recipes.  In looking at this one, apparently the only difference it will make is in measuring pints/quarts.  Maybe that is why it is just easier to measure stuff in ounces!

ahhhh Pete, maybe we use US.

Sheilae, I have used both shortening and margarine. the margarine must be hard. If you use soft margarine your cookies will be 'bready' (if that's a word)

I like the shortening best I think, makes them nice and chewy.

Ithink I will add this to my to do list for the weekend or Tuesday's  snowed in weather.  The weather channel says we are expecting 6 inches of snow. Hissy FitCryHissy FitHelp

When was the last time that area had a winter this bad?  It never snows that much there!  I'm going to have to export mom.

Think spring…and Snuggle (bluebirds).  Sun and Happy Flower.

The neighbors all agree that this is the worst they have seen in about 40 years or so…

Bee I'm trying to think good thoughts.Sun2  Pete I agree, I only had to walk up my drive way one time last year and this is my fourth time already this year, and it is no fun trying to carry my little one up it.
