Orange Nut Sugar Cookie Squares

Ingredients

* 1 package store bought sugar cookie dough ( or make your own favorite recipe-enough to spread in the bottom of a cookie sheet)

* 1 cup orange marmalade (I use sugar free or low sugar)

* 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (we like macadamia or hazelnuts) walnuts would be good too !

* 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips ( any chocolate will do-even white)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Make cookie dough according to directions on package. Spread the cookie dough out on a cookie sheet to 1/4-inch thickness  (about 9 inches by12 inches) using your fingertips. Bake for 15-18 minutes. Let cool.

Spread the marmalade over the cookie. Sprinkle with nuts.

Melt the chocolate chips, either in a double boiler over lightly simmering water or place them in a zip top qt size baggie and melt in microwave using the defrost button.   Dip a spoon in the melted chocolate and drizzle on top of the cookie–or if using baggie just cut a corner off and drizzle. Let cool. Cut the cookie into 18-24 squares. Serve or store in airtight container.  VERY ADDICTING!!Hungry

Sounds great.  I wonder how other jams will taste on this cookie.  Could use cranberry and white chocolate.

I just made this.  I used spiced cranberry jam since I had made 2 batches of it.  I used white chocolate and pecans since I had that too.  It is addicting for sure.  I love this idea.  I am now wondering what else can you put on this cookie base.  Maybe a cream cheese mixture and then fruit with an orange marmalade glaze.  Or mabye some sort of chocolate chip peanut butter mixture with white chocolate drizzled on top.  To me the sky is the limit here.

I should have bought 2 packages of cookie mix.  I need to take them to church tonight and well – hmmm- I have eaten half of them.  I used the Target brand and they are wonderful.  I have wrapped them and put the in the car now.
