Oreo Truffles

1 pound Oreo Cookies (3 sleeves or 45 cookies)
1 – 8 oz Cream Cheese at room temperature
1 pound Melting milk chocolate
1/2 pound Melting White chocolate

Using a food processor, grind cookies to a fine powder.
Using mixer, blend cookie powder and cream cheese until thoroughly mixed (should be no white traces of cream cheese).

Roll into small balls and place on wax-lined cookie sheet.
Refrigerate for 45 minutes.

Line two cookie sheets with wax paper.
In double-boiler or microwave, melt milk chocolate.
Dip balls and coat thoroughly.
With slotted tool, lift ball out of chocolate and let excess chocolate drip off.
Place on wax-paper lined cookie sheet.
In separate double boiler, melt white chocolate.
Using a fork, drizzle white chocolate over balls.
(Or be creative and coat them however you want!)

Store in airtight container in refrigerator or very cool room.

They are :)

I made these a few years ago – coated with white chocolate – and gave everyone in the office 6 each.

There were truffle wars! A few who managed to stash a few and then let the secret out were threatened with bodily harm LOL.

They are a bit time consuming but very worth it.

These are the best. I've brought them to pot-lucks at work and everyone squirrels them away as soon as they are put out.  I bet they would be good made with the mint oreos, too.

Mint ones! Yes!  — I checked the pantry, and I have Oreos (the double stuff ones) and the peanut butter filled ones.  Wonder how they would taste with the peanut butter ones?

WIth Oreos, I don't think any combination will be bad LOL! Anxious to hear what different versions everyone comes up with!

These do indeed sound delicious.  Much too tedious for me to do, but as always, I will offer my services for quality control purposes, and maybe a little comparative tasting.  For scientific analysis, of course.    Cool   Strictly altruistic sacrifice, for the good of the group…    Devil

Oh we must be related – somewhere back there… LOL. Me too. Can't cook without tasting. Just can't.

Well, of COURSE you have to taste while cooking!  And I don't mind at all tasting with you as you are cooking.  Shimmy

I admit I'm hooked on the cooking shows where the chefs are competing to be the best chef.  It amazes me how often they give their food to the judges, and when the judges ask about the seasoning the chef contestant admits they didn't taste the dish before they served it.  This from someone competing for a job, or for cash, and cooking when they know their efforts will be critiqued on television in front of the world.  Fascinating.  Maybe you and I should apply for the job.
