This recipe is from Southern Living ( a Carolina girl's second Bible)

Praline Apple Bread

1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, divided

1 (8oz) container sour cream

2 large eggs

1 Tbsp vanilla extract

2 cups all purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups finely chopped Granny Smith apples

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, toast 1/2 cup pecans ( 6 to 8) minutes.  Beat sour cream and next 3 ingredients at low speed 2 mins or until blended.  Stir together flour and next 3 ingredients, add to sour cream mixture.  Stir in apples and toasted pecans.  Spoon batter into a greased and floured loaf pan.  Sprinkle with remaining pecans, lightly press into batter.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 5 mins or until wooden toothpick comes out clean.  You nay shield the top with foil after 50 mins to prevent excessing browinig.   For the icing, bring butter and brown suar to a boil over medium heat, boil for 1 minute.  Spoon over bread that has cooled about 10 to 15 mins.   Let bread cool completely-about 1 hour.  This bread freezes well.

I made a few changes, I did not toast the pecans, and I put about 1/2 tsp apple pie spice in the batter.  You could add raisins if you like.  This is very good and would make a wonderful gift.

I am there with the pecans and brown sugar!  MMMmm!  I just made apple crisp last night–heaven!

My budget plan is NOT getting a cart when I go to the store.
