These were always a favorite of my family's. 

3/4 C. chopped pecans

1 C. Butter ( margarine does not work with these.)

1/2 C. powdered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

1/4 tsp. salt

2 1/4 C. flour

Mix together and form into one inch balls. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes. Watch them…they like to burn.

While still warm, roll in more powdered sugar. Cool.  Refrigerate, if they last long enough. 

They freeze very well too.

Who would have thought a city girl would live halfway up a mountain…and have chickens?

They are wonderful and known by several other names as well, Russian Teacakes, Mexican Wedding cookies… just don't inhale when taking a bite – kind of the powdered donut effect.

They do sound wonderful…..I don't think I've had anything like these……..may just have to do add them to the Christmas candy list!
