This may not be new at all to many of you, but it is to me!

Someone brought some little snack bags full of a sweet Chex mix to the office yesterday and gave everyone their own – there was quite a buzz about it right away.

It was WONDERFUL and no one had tasted this before.

Wellllll, I was at the store last night and right there on the Cinnamon Chex box was THE recipe woohoo!

The mix I tasted used butter flavored "puffcorn" instead of popcorn which just melted in the mouth like a pinch of a cinnamon bun Eating

And I don't believe it had the Chocolate Chex in it, so I am using Cinnamon Chex plus Rice Chex and the "puffcorn".

Snickerdoodle Chex Mix

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

2 cups Cinnamon Chex

2 cups Chocolate Chex

4 cups popped popcorn

1/4 cup butter or margarine

In small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, set aside.

In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals and popcorn.

Melt butter in a cup in the microwave and pour over cereal mixture and stir until evenly coated.

Microwave uncovered on HIgh for 1 minute, stir, microwave 1 more minute, stir.

Sprinkle with half of the sugar mixture, stir. Sprinkle with the remaining sugar mixture, stir.

Microwave 1 minute longer.

Spread on waxed paper or paper towels to cool.

16 half cup servings.

Ooooo, that looks good!  But, it's something I'm going to have to try after the holidays……or maybe for New Year's party!

I just made 3 gallons of it in about 45 minutes. I added some cocoa powder to the cinnamon sugar so as to not ignore the chocolate LOL. I used a box of Cinnamon Chex,  one 5 ounce bag of butter puffcorn, 3/4 cup sugar with 1 Tbsp. cinnamon + 1 tsp. cocoa power, and 3/4 cup margarine.

Baked in the oven for 5 or 6 minutes at 250 degrees in lieu of each period of nuking it.

Made this  X2. YUM!

Do try it, it's very good and a nice change.

Is the puffed corn like the cereal?  I can't wait to try this one – sounds delicious.

Canning and dehydrating will now become a part of my life.

It's the no-hull 'popcorn' sold in bags beside the potato chips, etc. Usually comes in butter flavor or cheese flavor. Regular popcorn would work as the recipe asks for, but what I tried had the puffcorn and was great, plus I have a few family members who cannot have popcorn hulls, so this worked great for me for Christmas baskets. You could use the cereal  I think – it's already sugar-coated though, if I remember? So may be a bit different, but what the heck? LOL

I love that puff-corn!  Biggest problem is it's gone too fast!  LOL, I think this recipe has fantastic potential for modifying for the occasion.  Regular popcorn will work fine for many occasions and be more thrifty, the cereal would be great for kids/school events when time is short and your little darling tells you about needing a snack on short notice, and for gatherings that demand a little extra, go for the puff-corn!

It's not exactly healthy, but it's sure better than a lot of other snacks!  There's plenty of calories involved, but at least they aren't totally empty ones.  (that's how I justify it to myself anyway!)

If tomatoes are a fruit, then isn’t ketchup technically a

smoothie?
