Oh, MAN! These sound so good! Something like those sour cream donuts I like so much. Maybe put a little cream glaze on top…

Hi! These sound good. Have you ever tried folding in blueberries or another fruit?

quietstorm- thanks for posting this. I'm guessing because of the age of the recipes this is real whipping cream, soured, not dairy sour cream in a plastic box.
pete-sour cream doughnuts, that's what I was hoping for. yum!

Alanna, these are recipes from my great grandmother's recipe box that i had listed and some folks asked me to post specific recipes….they havent been used/made in the 40 yrs since she passed away. I used to make something similar to these from a fannie farmer cookbook which had raisins in it. i dont see why you couldnt use "add ins"…. ham & cheddar cheese come to mind too – especially with soup….YUM!

pete & lavenderblue….. her donuts wer to die for…. eating them warm and the scent of nutmeg….
sadly the recipe for them was not in the recipe box
those are the only 2 memories i have of her (was 4 or 5 at the time) – her standing at the stove frying donuts in her stock pot and trying on 2 dresses she made for me – one was a peach/coral color and the other was aqua

quietstorm, if I dig around a bit I have a mashed potato doughnut recipe from an old American Agriculturist recipe pamphlet. It's my favorite doughnut recipe but be prepared, frying those little buggers is not quick work. I'll be looking up the recipe, if anyone is interested I'll post it. The darn book is so small I lose it easily but I love the recipes in it.

Just made these, they are excellent. I made them plain to see exactly how they turn out but you could dress them up anyway you'd like. They actually seem a bit "sturdier" than my other plain muffin recipe. The ham and cheese would go great with it or chopped bacon or anything sweet. Thanks, 'storm.
