OfflineOkay, Leah, this is the recipe I have for Texas Sheet Cake. It is one that no self-respecting woman who ever hosted a Tupperware, Avon, or Stanley Party would be without.
Warning!! With these ingredients, a minute on your lips–forever on your hips

Texas Sheet Cake
2 cups sugar 2 eggs
2 cups flour 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 stick oleo 1 tsp. soda
1 cup water 1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup shortening 1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
4 Tbsp. cocoa
Sift together sugar and flour; set aside. Place in saucepan the oleo, water, shortening, and cocoa. Bring to boil. Pour this over flour and sugar mixture. Add eggs, buttermilk, soda, vanilla (and cinnamon if using) . Beat well until smooth.Pour into greased jellyroll pan or sheet pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Frosting:
4 Tbsp. cocoa 1 tsp. vanilla
1 stick oleo 1 cup brocken pecans (optional)
6 Tbsp. buttermilk 1 box powered sugar
Combine cocoa, oleo, buttermilk, vanilla, and pecans. Bring to a slight boil and beat in powered sugar. Frost cake while warm.
