WHITE TRASH

3 cups Bugles

3 cups Cheerio's

3 cups each  Wheat, Rice and Corn Chex

3 cups pretzel sticks broken (I used the pretzels that look like hearts and broke in 1/2)

1 cup salted and roasted peanuts (like Planter's in jar or store-brand)

1 1/2 lbs. white chocolate wafers (I used 1 1/2 small bags 12 or 13 oz. Nestles in bag)

M & M's (optional but do add a nice touch of color….about a handful)

3 TBLSP Oil (I used canola, prob. can use veg…..oilive oil would be too strong)

Very large bowl (I used turkey roasting pan) mix all dry ingredients together. In medium saucepan melt white chocolate and oil very slowly on low/simmer heat, stirring as it melts. (The original recipe called for melting in microwave or double boiler but these methods didn't work for me – the chocolate seized.)

When chocolate is melted pour it over the dry ingredients and mix well with spatula trying not to crush cereals.  Spread on waxed paper to dry then break up into pieces and store in air tight containers. I used two pieces of waxed paper about 3 feet long apiece on my counter and just laid the mixture on it, Both pieces of waxed paper were full top to bottom with the white trash mixture. Your hands are going to get sticky spreading it out. You could use a buttered spatula or something – just used my hands just because that's me.  It dries quite quickly….30-45 minutes or so.

This made two 1-gallon-size storage bags full.

Interesting note *** I didn't have all three chex mixes so I was just eyeballing and substituting to make up…the key is the sweet/salty thing…Usually I have decorative tins for it, but since I  made this last minute an hour before a Christmas party I just used quart sized ziplock bags with a pretty bow. But a tin of this stuff is a beautiful thing!

I gave it all away as gifts, along with the hard candies, but because I bought an extra bag of white chips I've got enough ingredients left to make some for our famiily.

Enjoy!
