P.S. Because of your site, I’ve purchased a steam juicer, new bread pans, cheese making products, got out my sewing machine to make aprons for Christmas gifts, and the list keeps getting longer, all of which have given me great pleasure. You’ve made a positive difference in my life, so thank you.

[YIPES I hit the wrong key oh great administrator in the ether.....]
[The topic was supposed to be:] What has CITR inspired you to do lately?
While reading the responses to Suzanne's questions it seems that CITR has inspired some of us to do or try things new to us. For example, Rose mentioned, P.S. Because of your site, I’ve purchased a steam juicer, new bread pans, cheese making products, got out my sewing machine to make aprons for Christmas gifts, and the list keeps getting longer, all of which have given me great pleasure. You’ve made a positive difference in my life, so thank you.
For myself, I've tried onion marmalade, refrigerator pickles, and I've stocked up on new wide mouth quart and half-pint jars in anticipation of other forays into canning/preserving. I've also ferretted out my yarn stash to make some dishcloths, and changed what I use to shampoo my hair. And a friend and I have a date to make some soap! "Clover made me do it," is so true!

We probably each have varying lists in response to that question!
Most recently it has been making pickles. A little before that it was the oil face cleaning and giving up shampoo. Not sure that getting chickens was entirely inspired by those here (we had been talking about it already) but the info here was invaluable in actually making it happen.
Am pretty sure that I wouldn't have purchased a PC or the strainer attachment for the KitchenAid were it not for the folks here either!
Oh, there are a lot of things we have shared here. It's a learning experience for sure.

WOW, There is really so much that inspires me about CITR! I learned to crochet again, I have tried so many new recipes, my family loves this! I have a very well stocked pantry now with lots of ideas on how to use everything. I now make our own soap! I also bought a steam juicer and pressure canner. Most of all this site has inspired me to take a look at what is really important in life, like living simple, finding beauty in everyday things that most people take for granted, just knowing that if you have a question about most anything, there is so much support offered. I really cannot say enough about this wonderful site, I just LOVE IT and am so glad that it is here.

The latest has been making stuff with the quick mix recipe. This weekend it was muffins—raspberry, cinnamon streusel and also sausage & cheese.

Stop by the forums and check them out. I want to get back to cooking from scratch and finding a use for everything! Suzanne is such an inspiration – I faithfully read her blog everyday – don't always have time to leave a reply but she starts my day out.
Going to do alot reading on her site and start cooking from scratch. That's my number one goal to achieve in the couple of weeks.

I can't even begin to list everything CITR has inspired me to do…..my whole lifestyle has changed since I became a member here….
I'm a chicken herding, jam and everything else canning, soap-cleaner-beauty product making, scratch cooking woman of the 2010's! I truly believe I could have lived a hundred years ago in the 1910's, though I do love my internet

So many things! I have made that strawberry cake of Suzanne's several times since she posted it and it gets rave reviews each time! I'm ready to make soap! A lot of the things Suzanne does are things I also do here on the farm like canning, gardening, raising goats and chickens but I always learn new tips and tricks from her!

WOW! CITR inspired me to blog for the first time in my life! I never felt comfortable on the internet till I found this site. The warmth and caring of the CITR group is what drew me out and for the first time venture to leave a comment or two. LATELY: Well, I made an apron! I was inspired by Suzanne's apron display and the thought of bringing back a tradition that once was held by my own mom and grandma. I made some of the mixes (Rice-A-Roni) and strawberry and peach jam. I think I gained about 20 pounds from all the good recipes that tempted me to try them (peanut butter cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, etc.). I am currently in the mood to make those Elephant Ears that CindyP wrote about the other day. CITR inspires me in so many ways it's hard to list them all. But most of all, I'm inspired by all the friends I've made since I came here.

I actually made home-made bread and enjoyed doing it. I made banana nut bread from scratch. I have printed numerous recipes to try. My next endeavor is apple strudel ladder loaf then cinnamon rolls. My family loves this new me. I have looked at my life with a new appreciation. Thank You.

I think I stumbled onto the site when I was looking for instructions on how to make homemade vanilla and stayed for all the rest of the wonderful things. The vanilla is almost a year old now and great stuff. I've also made lard and pepperoni rolls and cream enchiladas and angel biscuits and those yummy peanut butter cup cookies.
I've got celery bottoms in a bowl with some water in my kitchen right now. I've also got 12 ears of corn sitting the kitchen that need scraping for fried corn and then the cobs have a date with destiny to become corn cob jelly. At some point burnt sugar cake will be making an appearance too.

I've seen this thread and I've been thinking….yeah, dangerous!
I am amazed with all the talented, hard – working ladies out there. You must put in 48 hour days to do all you do! Sometimes I feel inadequate……yet, there is always encouragement and advice from everyone. The sense of "sisterhood" is so strong! Some days, when it sounds like the world is headed to h*** on the fast-track, you all can bring me back to focus on the simple, important things in life.
And then I head to the kitchen to cook something new…..
And after today's cleaning recipes, I'll clean, too!

Although I no longer have a gma, Ive adopted Suzannes! And Georgia too. The money I save on groceries…eating good meals that are real foods. How can you beat that? Although I live a fulfilled life I can somedays feel lonely, not for long. I have my sister/twin Rileysmom out there and I do mean out there….just kiddin….and all of you. I always feel inspired by this site. I make cheese, breads, good m eals and tonight…Soap! Many people would pay a small fortune for whats here, I dont know if you could put a price on it…One thing for sure. It would be out of my reach. Its worth millions!
I am so blessed to have you all. Thank You!

I guess the biggest thing that CiTR inspires me to do is the things I love. Cooking, canning, baking, tending my garden, enjoying my chickens and loving my family. It's wonderful knowing that there are other people out there who enjoy the very same things. I'd much rather spend time in my garden or kitchen than at the mall or some such thing. Many people just don't understand that, especially many of the women I know. People can't understand why I'd rather make bread for my family than buy a mystery loaf at the store. The folks on here not only understand, they encourage and inspire me to do more.
I have a huge "To-Do" list that I've made up after reading CiTR. Now I just have to keep learning and doing.
Thanks for all the inspiration, encouragement, laughter and peeks into your crazy lives. It feels like family here.

Hello–like Leah, I have tried the homemade cleaners, and cant believe the results–you have got to do the vinegar in your rinse compartment of the dishwasher, I stlll can not believe how clean my dishes are, and they actually squeak! The glassware is as clear and sparkley as new, I have never found any rinse aid that is this good–and the cost, I purchased a gallon of vinegar for less that half of one of those little one time refills.
I am so impressed, I thought of going to the super market and standing by the rinse-aids and just spread the news!!
Sorry–I just get so excited!!
