Hi Cindy, thank you for this, I have just finished a book on folk remedies and am truly amazed

how vinegar has been used used for so many things. When I was growing up, there were not that many items in a medicine chest, usally alcohol, Iodine and a container of salve, amazing that we made it when you see all of the adds for first aid items that we "need" today. I have spoke with folks older than even myself and they talk about their homemade remedies and vinegar and honey is always among the items used. I am not saying that the more modern first aid treatments are not better, just that we can treat a lot of things with out "chemical" additions. We try to stay away from as many as possible in our home. I am always interested in natural remedies and how folks have used them.

I use ACV for when I have heartburn. Heartburn is actually caused from not enough acid in the stomach. Most people believe that they have too much acid but that is not true.

Take 1/2 tsp to 1 TBS ACV followed with some water. Stops the burn almost instantly!

Also for nausea and or morning sickness, put 1/2 to 1 tsp. ACV in a mug, add 1 TBS raw honey, juice from a lemon wedge and hot water. Drink slowly.

Morning sickness is sometimes caused from low blood sugar, the honey and lemon bring up the blood sugar and covers the taste of the acv, the acv helps stop the feeling of nausea. Works like a charm too for when you are sick. (My kids call this the barf potion!!)

ACV is a miracle cure for warts! First file off the top of the wart with a finger nail file. Wet a cotton ball with ACV. Tape the cotton on the wart overnight. It took a couple weeks to take care of my daughters warts. The wart will turn black before it heals up. We previously had them removed by her family doctor, only to have them return. And we had tried everything you can buy over the counter. They always returned.......She has been wart free over a year now . I am a believer in ACV.

I have been using a mixture of ACV, honey, cayenne and ginger to sooth sore throats with excellent results. It's spicy going down but subsides quickly. I also like it for a hair rinse, also mixed with honey, after shampooing with baking soda. My hair is strawberry blond and almost waist length with ample gray highlights and it works great.
The throat remedy is 1 TBSP ACV, 1 TBSP honey, 1/4 tsp each of cayenne and ginger and 2TBSPS warm water. Shake before using. I take two spoonfuls. I am considering taking it daily whether I need it or not as more of a tonic. It's important to use organic ACV and local honey for best results.

I have used it as a tonic. The easiest thing to do is mix honey(not processed) with organic ACV 50/50 in a jar. Let it sit a day or two and the vinegar will break down the honey into a liquid form. Then it is easy to take it daily by adding it to a glass of water. If you use honey/ACV in their natural forms it doesnt taste as bad as you might think, almost like an apple cider. You can decide what strength you want it based on how much water you put in. Try a couple tablespoons in a glass of water a couple times a day for a month and see the effects for yourself.

Though not a tonic drink, I read just today that 2 tablespoons of ACV and 1 ounce of cheese prior to bedtime is supposed to help lower your morning blood sugar level by up to 6% (for those of us who have type 2 diabetes). I have not tried this yet but am going to get right on it.

I always heard that ACV rinse was used on dark hair and lemon juice for light hair (blonde). I use ACV rinse on my colored (well it is brown but the color is the lightest blonde so that when it is needing a recolor it just looks like it is highlighted) hair at least a couple of times a month after a baking soda shampoo. My hair/head feels so much better after I do this combination.

great topic....I haven't tried ACV yet, but I have heard it is a miracle cure for toenail fungus, works especially well on the ones that don't respond to the three month drug cycle.

Maybe someone out there has tried ACV for that in particular?? (I'm sure you can figure out why I really want to know lol)

I work with a girl who uses ACV in her hair after baking soda "shampooing". Her hair is gorgeous, waist length and dark brown. I'm wondering if it would work on very long light blonde hair, without making it dark and dank looking.
