I am a believer and know God hears our prayers.
Hi all…Its been awhile since I posted.
Last time I did my hubby had went thru 3 heart attacks
The last one having to have a triple by-pass.
While I took care of him I became sicker and in more pain.
My weight went down to 108 pounds at 5'7". Then I found a lump :(
They got me in for a mammogram and I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer June 23rd.
I go in for a double mastectomy this Thursday the 11th.
During all the testing before surgery I had done it was discovered I have a blockage in the bottom chamber of my heart and will have to have a heart cath done and possible stents 6 weeks after surgery, before they start chemo.
They did nuclear bone scans..CT scans of my lungs, abdomen, and pelvis because we were afraid the cancer had spread.
I had a gold ball sized swollen lymph node in my groin and horrible stomach pains for months. ALL the scans come back clear of cancer anywhere else in my body.
I am still praising God every day .
They did find a few more things wrong.
But I still feel I am blessed because I dont have cancer all thru my body.
I am not able to have reconstruction done because of my breathing and heart problems.
And I am ok with that. It may be in the future…but at my age (53) I kinda doubt it.
I am blogging at http://atoosassygal.blogspot.com/
and would love if you want to join me in support and prayers.
It's easier to journal it there and keep all my family and friends informed
without having to answer lots of Emails .
Or please just keep me in your thoughts and prayers June 11th.
I know God's are answered. It's in his hands….
As soon as I am feeling better thru all this I will be back!!!!!!
I love Chickens in the Road !!!!
Debbi
I have so much stuff to do yet.
I ended up in the ER Saturday by ambulance.
And then tried to feel good enough for a family picnic given for me.
I blogged all about it, if any of you want to know more. And added pics.
I look horrible after the day and night I had.
But somehow think its better then I will look Thursday after surgery :(
(((hugs))))

OfflineI am so terribly sorry to hear about your CA. I have had a couple of scares also which were nothing so I know a little bit of the anxiety that entails not knowing. Prayers will go to you and your husband. Keep the faith. God does answer prayer.
Thank you so much ladies for thinking of me…
Praying and adding me on your churches prayer chains ((((hugs)))
Mamawolf…Yes its so scary when they have you come back, do sono, or biopsy.
I've had that scare before too.
Those of you know the sick feeling you get.
I really thought thats what it was this time.
I walked around in a daze for a week. Then finally cried when I got stung by a bee of all things…
My Mom will try to update my blog for me Friday after she gets me home.
I look forward to enjoying this site more after I am doing better
I will probably drive you all nuts posting to all the threads when I am undergoing chemo this fall…lol

OfflineI work as a medical librarian in a community hospital. Since so many people have lost their insurance the number of mammographies we're doing has dropped dramatically. One of my caring cancer doctors was confiding that he is worried. There are women out there who might be in the early and very treatable stages of breast cancer and not discovering it because they skipped their test. He sadly remarked that he knows he's going to see them come in eventually but their cancer will have spread and wind up stage 3 or 4. We're going to lose folks because they are skipping this basic test. Please, please if you haven't had a mammography lately see if you can find the money or look into other programs to get the test. My mother, grandmother and other relatives had and survived breast cancer but not everyone is so lucky!
My hospital takes a van out to housing projects and cheap apartment buildings in the area to give free mammographies due to a grant we got. Check around at various government agencies, free clinics, etc. Please I beg you don't let this slide!
Joyken…You are so right.
The times are so bad…so many out of work.
And even those that are working dont have good INS. or such high deductibles they put a mammogram on the back burner. DON'T DO IT LADIES!!!!
She's so right…I beg you to get checked. It's better to know early
There are programs out there for people who can't afford it.
I was so afraid to go check, How was I going to pay for treatment even if I got that free mammogram?
I didn't want to lose my house….Too late I found out that doesnt matter.
There ARE programs out there that will help you even if you own your home , as long as you are not over their income requirements.
Cleveland Clinic here in Cleveland Ohio (one of the best) is doing all my office visits, tests, Drs , surgery and chemo for free.
Check in to it ladies…I too beg you…There's people who love you !!!!
