I suspect I'm hyper-reactive right now about thorns because it's brush-clearing season here and I've just had my fill of them. I'm not exaggerating when I say there are places on this farm where one can reach out and get stabbed by 7 different thorny species in tree, bush, or vine form. And that's what I get for buying an overgrown, neglected farmstead, right?

LauraP, Donkeys and camels eat thorns. Maybe that is your answer. I have seen tractor tires flatened by locust thorns.

Strange that we have a local county park that has a "locust grove shelter" with the devilish 
thorns that pierce right through kids shoes! You'd think they'd clear THAT grove and make it something more people-friendly!!!!!

Ross: Our garden centers here 'bouts carry some non/less invasive species of bamboo. The gardener here (not me) is a plant whisperer who carries a whip and a chair and so is able to tame wild plants. So far, he's won every encounter!
