Yeah!  Girlie has decided to stay instate for college, she was accepted at the Univ of Utah (fine arts-ballet) , but realised that $30,000+ per year was out of our range.  She will go to the Univ of SC in Spartanburg about 2 hrs away.  I am very proud of her and happy with this decision.

I was really really worried about Utah, she visited the campus in Feb for the ballet auditions, but its so far from SC.  I told her I didn't want her anywhere that was more than a couple of hours away.  I'm sure that she would be homesick, and wouldn't that be a very expensive mistake.  Girlie is a very special child (woman).  She is my sister Linda's grandchild,  Linda and I raised her from the time she was born.  The first time she spent the weekend with me she was 2 weeks old.  After Linda died, Girlie came to live with me full time, I think she is a remarkable girl to have gone thru loosing Linda who was more of a mother to her than her real mother and never having a father.  I know I'm bragging, but I can't help it.

Congrats Jeannie on her staying close to home and going to college. You have every right to brag. Bringing her up in such a situation and her turning out so well says alot. So brag away.

Girlie is one beautiful Girlie, Jeannie.  And you and your sister Linda should be congratulated for doing such a fine job raising such a fine girl!

It's a good thing you stuck with staying close……. they just don't realize they'll get homesick……. and after the expensive collegs costs coming home probably wouldn't be often!!  My niece, whom I'm the closest she's ever had as a mother, was only 1 1/2 hours away and she was always homesick!!  I went to get her once a month until she got her own car, then she was here every weekend!!!
