I have gotten a couple people asking what sort of weather to expect at the retreat.  I'm guessing summer wear with a couple sweaters or sweat shirts thrown in.  Maybe a rain jacket just in case?

I don't think the camp is at too high an elevation, but it could get chilly I'm sure.  Is there a campfire ring where we could tell ghost stories?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting pretty excited!

Summer is Humid with a capital H in WV LOL. But definitely need to have a jacket or sweater of some sort along for evenings and early mornings this time of year, just in case. Late September/early October weather can be really fickle here. Last year's Farm Party weekend was beautiful but foggy in the AM and was the first time I had worn pants-to-the-ankle since May. And a hoodie. Just never know….

getting excited TOO!

oh I should note that last year, the Farm Party was a month later than it is this year. Being Labor Day weekend, might be 90 here sun

But, we have also had some nights in the mid-50's.  Perhaps some layers of things are in order?

OK, I'm ready, I think I'm ready, and I really want to be ready. BUT, I can't pack the car yet. I have put out the back pack , and it's open. I have made planes for a side trip(Business) on the way,and I have made arrangements for everyone to cover ALL or most of the things I  Do each day. I can hardy waite to get in the car and drive away from here. I need a break and I can hardy WAITE, but i will.

I hope we have a little cool air morning and evenings. I'm so looking forward to West Virginia morning mist in the mountains. yes

Hi all!  It has been nice and cool here in the mornings and late evenings with high 80's in the middle of the day.  Our location is on the rolling hills side of the state so our elevation is only about 750 feet above sea level.

Yes, there is a circle with benches for a campfire.

I will show you where it is located.

I will be popping in and out at the retreat just to visit and cheer you all on in your endeavors.

See you soon!

I really wanted to come to the retreat, but I will not be able to make it.  Hubby has been taking chemo for over 20 months, and is scheduled for a Dr visit and chemo at the end of the month.  Somedays he is so weak that he stumbles.  I could not live with myself if he had a problem or fell and I was 8 hours away!  I hope everyone has fun, and please take lots of pics to share!

OH Jeannie B, so sorry to hear that, we really wanted to meet you and you'll be missed!!!!, but I completely understand.  My brother is staying with our 92 year old father and I'll be a nervous wreck, but it's his dad too, so I'm forcing myself to go.  In our case, there's a few super important things about his care (medicines on time, watchfulness when up and around, regular meals, cleanliness) so I'm gritting my teeth and going.  Surely they can manage for a few days (is what I'm telling myself… but I'll be on the phone a LOT!)

Prayers for you dh, JeannieB.

I'm not attending the retreat even though I live so close.  I wish I could, but with dh still gone it's just not possible.  I have two children going in the opposite directions that weekend and since I'm the only driver here I get to spend most of my time one the road that weekend.  :)   However,  Mattie Rose and I will be able to attend the party.

Hello Everyone,

First timer on this site… and just loving it! I have always felt out of step, just never fitting in. And for the first time in all my years I have finally found a group of women who are interested in the same things I am. Whether it be baking, farming, sewing, I just love working with my hands. I am a mother of two and I have been seriously considering coming out to West Virginia for the CITR 2012 retreat. I don't know yet, just a bit unsure. Need some words of encouragement from people who have done it.

it's kinda quiet here tonight but I am sure that you'll get more than a little encouragement SOON lol. You won't regret coming if you decide to come hang with us – it's a GREAT time with super people. I can't wait to do it again!

The Retreat 2011 was so satisfying on so many levels!  Meeting people we have met here via the forum, learning so many things with hands on lessons, (or in the case of kneading dough, hands IN )  Getting tips from each other and laughing and sharing thoughts and ideas in person.  Plus it's just BEAUTIFUL there!!!  What a great and rewarding way to spend time with friends!

I hope we all get to meet up with those who were there last year, and also meet new friends and CitR members (including YOU) too at the 2012 retreat!  chicken chicken chicken chicken
