You're not with AT&T are you? I didn't see Frontier in that article at all.  Verizon was but they didn't have a ceiling. So I don't think it will affect you??

According to that article, my ISP has a ceiling.  I've never been warned or been given more fees for going over a ceiling.  250 GB is a lot of uploading and downloading in a month.

My bf is a gamer, downloading games, patches, and cracks, and the most he has downloaded in a month is 350 gigs.

I'm a heavy user, I dont have cable, I download all of our viewing, and the most I have downloaded in a month is 55 gigs.

So a 250 gig cap would be totally fine unless you are a total gaming geek (like my boyfriend)

Even if a gaming geek, downloading those patches etc is only an occasional thing.  What they're targeting is people who are uploading massive files and movies etc.  Often (but not at all always) it's about pirating stuff.  I doubt if most of us would get that high on a regular basis… if they're like most companies I've read about so far at least, an occasional over count gets overlooked, it's the people that are constantly over they'll go after.  Just my opinion of course.

Thing is, once one starts, they will all follow.  And when you'd be surprised how fast you can use up MB's in one day!  When you have to count every thing you do!

Actually, we go over frequently.  Weston is a gamer.  Usually we go over once a month, sometimes more.  HughesNet will give you one free pass a month.  After that, I have to pay an extra $10 PER DAY that we go over (or else they pretty much shut us off for 24 hours).  But, that's satellite, and I don't know if DSL will have the same limits.  If so, that's a bummer because I have been looking forward to some fine day getting DSL and being free from that.  Not that I have any hope of getting DSL any time soon!  Weston will go to college and move out before that happens, LOL.  (Minus Weston's gaming, we never go over.  Any time he is out of town, it never happens.  Only when he's here.)

Clover made me do it.

How much are you allowed, Suzanne?  250GB?

I'm on Suddenlink.  I didn't see any mention of them in the article and hadn't heard anything about this until now.
