this morning- did the chicken kill/plucking/gutting/cleaning/bagging for freezer.

My plan was to go in, but I wandered by the garden- Speckle butter beans were ready, picked a 6 gallon bucket and then noticed the purple hull peas were ready.  I picked a 4 gallon bucket of those.

Then it was time to shell- I will tell you this, I now know that having children on the farm back in the day had nothing to do with lack of knowledge about birth control- it was all about the beans, yep, I'm sure of it.  They got all of those kids out there to shell this beans and peas.

I really wanted to get everything shelled and in the canner tonight, but it's kicked my backside today.  I've gotten most of the butter beans shelled and put them in the fridge along with the other beans and peas that haven't been cleaned.

I fixed dinner for hubby and went to get a shower.  I am in love with that shampoo bar that I made the other day.  Lots of lather and it's energizing (Tea Tree Oil and Ginger Verbena)    I feel sure I'll be sleeping by 7pm- I plan on getting up at 4 to work on the rest of those beans.

I feel very blessed to have a bountiful garden, I have watered like crazy and I think that's what has saved it.  The corn however is toast.  I'll use the stalks for fall decorations- that's about all I'm getting out of that.

I'm tired from just reading about your day.  I thought I did a lot canning tomatoes and beans.  I left out the chicken processing.  Although that may change because I'm pretty sure one of my pullets is a roo….  Could be chicken and dumplings.

Could you tell me more about your shampoo bar?  Recipe?  I'd love to make my own.
