Ive had a lot of time of late to reminisce .  Thinking about things I have done, things I have never even considered.  So I thought I would start small and work my way up.

Somewhat physically restrained at the momentLaugh I decided to start with a small project and see how it goes.

I made a :Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich"Cool didnt have grape jelly,so it had to be Plum Jam. It did not look particularly appetising,so I dipped in batter, deep fried it,sprinkled with icing sugar Voila!!!ShimmyYesYesChef scrummy……………….second childhood!!!? maybe..

I hasten to add,I ate this in secrecy, dont want it to get around. After all, Telly Savalas used to suck lollipops!

I shall try to make my next effort a little more momentousLaugh Any ideas???????????????????

If you are looking for variations on the PB&J theme, one of my favorite things in the world is making extra French toast then using it later to make peanut butter and honey (or jam) sandwiches.

My fav for peanut butter sandwiches is with pickles!! Peanut butter, butter, and sweet pickles – preferably home canned Bread and Butter pickles but gherkins will do LOL! And a big glass of cold milk to go with – favorite since childhood.

Thank you ladies, noted for further experiments.  I came across a site called "Great American Sandwiches" Its where I got the recipe for the "Italian Beef Sandwich". You must remember I come from a country where a sandwich is a rather mundane thing, that can be held between finger and thumb!!!! Cucumber,Cheese,Ham etc. maybe with mustard or relish. Not the humungus examples Ive found, that have to be held in two hands and encompass multitude meats, pickles,Mayo, salad and more, and thats just one sandwich. They are usually about 4 inches thick, would require a mouth like an excavator bucket to eatLaughsome of the ingredients seem most peculiar, but as the saying goes,"Dont knock it,until you have tried it"

I have had the privelege of taking "Tea" with the Queen and Prince Phillip at Buckingham Palace,(with about 100 other people). I would have really loved to see their faces if the catering supplied some of these sandwiches, instead of minicule cucumber triangles with trimmed crusts.Would have been a not to be forgotten spectacleSurprisedFrenchAs another saying goes,"Onwards and Upwards"

Pffffft!  No reason to be ashamed!  You use what you have, no apologies required!  Cool

no shame, that would probly make a terrific batter……and you did say baby steps……NOW, you should try Suzanne's Quick Mix — pancakes, biscuits, many things can be made with it!!

Well, yeah… Suzanne's is fantastic of course, but I sure didn't throw out what I had!  I used up what I had first, so yeah, good ol' Aunt Jemimah is fine till it's gone.

Ohhhh try that pancake mix (or any for that matter) and dip halved hot banana peppers in it (keep the peppers DRY) and fry. Oh boy. Good stuff. The frying kills a bit of the heat, so don't be afraid LOL.

Makes good onion ring batter too.

I like fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches — no mayo.

But my favorite is bananas, butter, and cinnamon.

In college (the poor college days) I used to maked grilled PBJ (or most of the time, no J).  It was just a head thing, I didn't want to think all I was having was a PB sandwich……..I was having something GRILLED!!

LOL maybe so, Chris. I do love a little heat in some foods. Especially that cayenne afterglow that makes the nape of the neck perspire a little or the scalp tingle just a bit Devil with Tail and it's GOOD for ya!

Im worried!Help………..Is cinnamon an  aphrodisiac??????????

As a follow on to my recent mishap, I get a daily visit from a district nurse,to check on my wellbeing and to monitor my progress after being released from hospital.

She has just been,I had just finished making  a French Toast Peanut Butter sandwich as per Pete's suggestion,( See I do take your comments seriously). Her eyes lit up !"Whats that"she asked.Being a gentleman,I asked if she would like to try it."Yes please",suffice to say she was most appreciative, loved it,over a cup of coffee I explained my source and that I had several more variations to try. "Tommorow" she asked?

I think she fancies me………………should I cut down on the cinnamon?????????

Well, I love fried pb&j sandwiches….the other night, I got hungry; I went downstairs and found out we didn't have any strawberrry jelly, but we did have brown sugar–listen people:  You've never eaten until you eat a brown sugar peanut butter sandwich!  Delicious!  Now to fry one….Devil with Tail!
