Chicken can adapt to substitute caretakers. As long as  there is water and food and the hen house is open in the morning and closed at night they don't much care who has the duty.

Glad your new DIL is a joy. She has more leverage with your son than you had. ;)

When I divorced my husband in 1996 my MIL told me, in no uncertain terms, that I was divorcing her son and not her; she and I were going to remain friends no matter what.

My ex died in 2003 but "Mom Z" and I are closer than ever; especially since my mother passed in 2007.

My BIL is my auto mechanic.  I of course pay him a fair per hour "wage" and buy the parts…but to be able to trust that the work will be done right is priceless.

I had always prayed for good in-laws but perhaps I should have prayed for a better husband! lol

My prince charming took a wrong turn, got lost, and is too stubborn to ask for directions.

The story of my daughter in law is to long to write, I envy those of you that have a nice relationship with yours. I had no children, my Husband had two sons so I thought I had a shot of having a "daughter" at last, but she made sure that we would have none of that as well as not seeing our son or our grandchildren.

Has anyone heard from LK lately? I used to talk to her quite a bit but I have not heard from her in a long time.

Heading for West Virginia bright and early Saturday morning. (about 4:oo am). Hope your weather is cooler than what ours has been here. 106 yesterday. We did get about 1/2 inch very much needed rain last night. Our friend about 1/2 mile up the road got 3 inches. Anything is appreciated. Wish it could have worked out to come in September, but family reunion is August 5. Maybe I can give a shout out to everyone when we get past Charelston.hellowave

I'm really jazzed. A new store opened here in the last few weeks carrying cheese making supplies, every thing to make soap, as well as canning equipment and items for backyard chicken farmers and raisers of rabbits. Now I don't have to use the internet, can just drive about 7 miles!

Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like you do when no one is watching.

Too bad Buckley's homestead isn't a chain! I've never heard of them in Missouri. Our Amish stores don't even carry cheese making supplies.

Buckley's is a local store; she is a teacher and they are quite involved in the self-sufficiency effort. I hope they get a lot of business and can stay open. There are a lot of folk here who want to get into cheese and soap making as well as canning. The also carry fermentation equipment.

I am so happy and sad at the same time….my baby girl started Pre-K today. That was probably one of the hardest things I have had to do. She was great! I am the one who lost it! I did wait until she could not see me, I go to pick her up today at 2 and my husband kidding me said he was going to take the keys to the car so I could not go at noon!!!

I know that there are a lot of moms and dads that have done this and I know I am not the only one to break down…the weirdest part is it is soooo quiet at the house. I might turn the toons on just for noise!!! Haha

Been there Mamaleigh. When My first went to kindergarten I was 9 months pregnant with my third child. We only had one car(which my husband drove to work) so i had to just put him on the bus and watch him go off into the great big world by himself. I did fine…until he started to step up in to the big yellow bus…his legs were so short he had to crawl on! I could see his little blond head thru the bus window that he made it to the seat and then he sat down and he disappeared! the tears started to roll and then he popped up onto his knees and waved at me and his sister and then I literally boohooed!

Mammaleigh, their first day of  kindergarten is so special and cute, my neighbor's granddaughter will be starting soon, we had a tea part for her and some of her firiends and the little ones held a fashion show of what they are going to wear on the first day, it was the cutest thnig ever, all recorded of course for them to play for their children on thier first day.

You will be fine happy-flowerthey will have lots of stories to tell you every day.

happy-butterfly

Each of the girls received a "gift bag" of  pretty school supplies and some bubble bath, and  hair accessories. They had a great time.
