Good Morning Everyone

TGIF, hope everyone has a great day.

What are you doing with your weekend?  I'm going to see my grandson on Saturday, he'll be 8 months old on Monday.

Hoping to sew on Sunday but we'll see what the day brings.

We will have overnight guests Sat. night (three granddaughters) and then we have a couple of things on the agenda for Sun.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  Overcast today.  Suppose to have severe weather this evening.

Hi Mary,

That sounds like a wonderful weekend having your granddaughters :)   Have a great time!!!

I'm hoping the weather gets warmer, at least it's sunny today helps it feel warmer out.

it's been cold and dreary the rest of the week.

happy-flower

This morning we saw a large green moth on the window screen of our sunroom, it is the second one we have found around our porch this year, I looked it up on the intenet and found them to be Luna Moths, they are rare and considered an endangered spiecies, we feel very lucky to have seen two of them.

wow Jo, that's really great!!!

We've been busy with renovating downstairs.  Steven had the drywall delivered yesterday and it's looking like it's almost ready.  Tonight I'll go home and try to finish up getting the insulation stapled onto the walls, easy just have to staple the flaps to the studs.  Steven and his friend were sort of in the way last night for me to get it done.

We are hoping to start putting up the ceiling on Saturday :)

The container garden is doing well, we planted tomatoes and different peppers.  All my hanging baskets and the large planters of flowers are looking beautiful, I'm really happy on how they turned out.

Hello everybody,

I'm new to this, just found you by looking at Chickens in the Road website. We just harvested our first peaches and tried to make jam. We used no sugar added pectin but we didn't put enough. I found this calculator by the makers of Ball pectin, so we're ready for another try of canning peach and jalapeno jam, hope it comes out. Greetings from Kyle, TX

Hi there, so happy you are here,  your jam sounds so yummy, I purchased a jar of jalapeno jam last year, I mixed some with cream cheese and used it on my bagels and also makes a great spread on crackers. Hopefully we will hear more from you.

Hello strcon! Welcome! I used to live in Kyle before moving here 10 years ago. Went through Kyle recently and was astounded by the growth in the area!

I have not been on the forums recently, and was wondering about the delay in getting a recipe posted. I submitted it over a week ago, not sure after that. Always makes me wonder if I goofed when submitting the recipe. Any one else had a delay in the posting?

Hi Jo! Good to hear from you as well. I just took a little hiatus from the computer after having shoulder surgery. Typing one handed wasn't working too well. All better now.

Hope all is well with you.

Hi Pam, I know what you are saying, I had rotator cuff surgery a few years back on my right shoulder if that is what you had, I feel for you, my doctor told me it is one of the most painful of all surgeries . We forget how much we use our dominant had until we can't use it. I hope you are doing well.

Hi Jo. I have heard the rotator cuff surgery was painful! I had a "SLAP" tear repair and bicep tenodesis done on my Right shoulder. In plain english: The cartilege cup the head of my humerus (upper arm bone) sits in, had a tear in it. They trimmed and tacked it, and then cut the bicep tendon where it joins the head of the humerous and reconnected it to the humerus a little lower on the bone, with what looks like a plastic molly bolt. The surgery wasn't too bad, but the rehab was not fun. Still hurts and pops a little, but better than before.

Now I got to get my neck and back tuned up. Having steroid injections in my back under anesthesia next month. The neck will be later.

I have not done much cooking or baking with all this. Just starting to get my hands floury again. I sure have missed it. Eating store bought bread is not my idea of a good thing!

Pam--- ouch!!! That sound very painful to me, I hope you get all better very soon, I wish I could send you some homemade bread, I have been baking bread about 3 times a week now, some for a friend and some for my Stepson. It is amazing how we miss the little things in everyday life that we enjoy when we can't do them. Take care of yourself as best you can.

The weather here has turned pretty cold at night so I decided it was time to bring my pineapple and orange plants inside. I brought them in and put them in the sink and using my sprayer I cleaned the pots and the  dust from the plants, and them put them in the planter window over my sink. I came into the kitchen the next morning and saw something on the ledge above the back splash---it was a teeny tiny little frog! I scooped him up in a damp paper towel and took him outside to the porch and put him in my sweet potato plant, it has a lot of foliage left so it should keep him warm. Last night I worried about him so I took a plastic jug and cut it down and made a little house for him them took it out to the plant and covered him. He must have been in the pineapple plant, I found out he is a tree frog, I guess we had an awful lot of them this year.

Poor little froggie! Hope he finds a warm place to spend the winter. I love it that you made him a little house!

We had one of those tree frogs get into our kitchen one night, and  the next morning he was on top of the coffee maker! Surprised my husband that's for sure. Of course then we had to clean the coffee maker really goodsurprised.

Hello Brookdale---the saga continues-- this morning I decided to take my plants out out the planter window and give them a drink and a shower, so I did that, let the plants drain and dry and put them back in the window ( this window is right over my sink) I have some silk fall leaves around the bottom of the flower pots and in the middle I have a ceramic frog. I came back a few minutes later and there was a real live frog sitting on the head of my ceramic flog, it was another tree frog, but was much larger than the baby frog I found earlier. It scared me so bad, that if I had been a stuffed turkey, they would be picking stuffing off of the ceiling!! It jumped into the sink and I threw paper towels over it can carried it outside, it is in the 60's here so he/she will be fine. I took everything out of the window--again--and washed it again then took a flash light and looked through my pineapple plant real good, I didn't see anything, so I sure hope that is the last of them.happy-flower

Jo, invasion of the tree frogs! Sounds like an old horror movie...

The other evening we were driving home down our dark country road after a meeting, when out of nowhere a huge deer ran across the road right in front of us. Inches from my front bumper, no time to think or react. If it had stopped or even slowed down we would have ran right into it. Whew! Scary! We rarely see deer near the road out here. Will have to be a little more diligent in the dark now!

Hi there, I hope the frogs are gone for now, especially in the inside flower pots. I know what you mean about the deer. The farmers around us are harvesting their corn, and I was so happy to see that, I worry every time I have to go into town and drive past the corn fields, I go as slow as I can because I am worried that a deer will run out onto the road, with the corn down I can at least see them before they get to the road. Always something, isn't it? happy-flower
