OfflinePerhaps the best way to contact another member of our community, whether it's someone we've been missing or not, is to send them a PM – it allows for some private communication and an email is sent so they know there is a PM over here, they can see who the PM is from and at least know you are thinking of them even if they do not have the time to come over here to respond.

OfflineOK, obviously not Pete, but here goes…
In the strip at the top of the page, where your avatar is and it says “Logged in as YourName” is, in the far upper right corner of that strip, there’s a little word/button called “Profile” when you click that there’s a page with your information on it, and down in the central part of that is a label that says “Personal Options” click on that and then go to “Receive an Email when someone sends you a Private Message:” and click on the red X. That will change it to a green CHECK mark and you should start getting e-mails.
Clear as mud?

OfflineNobody missed me, huh– I have been off a while, but I am bacccccckkkk!!
Life is so buzy now, first Hubby is doing somewhat better, we choose to stop chemo for a while and let his body rest. 2 years sraight is a lot of meds and it was taking a toll, He has had about 5 straight GOOD days. He will have more scans the first week in Jan and most likely go back on chemo. Second, my job– I am the controller (fancy name for head accountant) for a very large corp. Our year ends Sept 3o, and I am a very buzy woman. I have missed my friends and promise not to be gone so long again!
Congrats to Suzanne for her bold move, I am so proud of her!! and can't wait to visit the lovely new farm!!

OfflineOh you were missed JeannieB, but knowing how busy and stressful things probably are for you I for one didn't want to make a fuss. It's so good to hear that your Hubs is having some good days, and that having a short break in the treatment will hopefully give you both some more energy.
I was just noticing that your location says you're from Columbia, SC! My brother lived there for a short time about 28 years ago and I got to visit, very pretty place with very interesting neighborhoods and history.
Anyway, I'm straying! I hope others who haven't poked their heads in the door much lately speak up here too! It's nice to hear from folks!

OfflineWelcome back. You have been missed. Because of our connection with Columbia I notice when you aren't among us. So very happy to hear about your husband's good days. That chemo can be so devastating to the body, even though it is doing some good things. Will continue to pray for both of you.

Offlinewow !
I've been veryveryvery busy lately with family and family and family and finally…putting to use all of the things I started to learn about on retreat ! ( dehy, bread making, crafting, and soaping and making all kinds of good stuff for the kids for christmas) ( I still think of it as a Workshop or Get-Together …because we worked and played HARD on that thing ! —retreats are for resting in my timewarp)
Anyway today, I had a chance to log on and found Suzannes post about renewal, and the new Sassafrassy homestead and I'm so proud of you, Suzanne ! You are an amazing woman, and the courage you give others is amazing, too. Never, NEVER underestimate what you do, (with all of these other wonderfilled friends of yours)…for us.
When I feel out of control, or not especially living the life I want, I go to that Chickeny place in my head, and resolve to do one thing today that matters. Which , I believe is your philosophy.
You are more dogged than Big puppy.
and I am doubly grateful for the time and energy you put into Retreat, knowing now you were already preparing for transition….omgoodness, what a right good gift you gave us ! ( and here's to Cindy and both Debs, and Pete, Laurap , Canning Queen and Dehydrating Mother…ha !) and anyone I am neglecting.

OfflineSuzanne,
I love the new farm!! when I saw the farmhouse, I cried. That is my dream, so maybe this summer you will find a little (somewhat) old lady rocking on your porch.
I am so proud of you, and you know what I always say, I love you like a daughter!!
