Live your lives one day at a time and enjoy each and every one of them. The road will be rough at times, but you can always rest assured that there are many, many people sending our prayers and well wishes your way.

That's good advice mommafox. That's the same thing I did when I had a terminally ill child. I had a husband and 2 other little ones, so my goal was to make everything as normal as possible and make sure we still had good times when possible with all we were going thru. Jeannie B!

Thank you all my friends, we had a good weekend, I was worried about Sat, he didn't eat anything, just drank a couple protien drinks and gatoraide. He has so much nausea, and the pills make him sleepy, but on Sunday he did eat a little turkey and a small piece of lemon pie. I told him that if he didn't drink more that I would take him for a couple bags of IV fluids, so he drank more gatoraide. Along with all the pain and other side effects fo chemo, he has a flare up of gout in both feet. Poor baby!! But we are hanging in and taking it one day at a time.

I will make him some mint tea this afternoon. I also recall that a nurse told me to sniff on an alcohol swab to help quell the nausea.

Hi Jeannie and Husband-Good thoughts coming your way from PA! Has your Dr. given your husband any pills for nausea? My husband only got alittle sick one time from chemo and I gave him a pill that the pharmacy gave me. Alanna

Hi Jeannie
I do hope your Husband is feeling a little better today.
Ginger is good for nausea, I've found a link that confirms it's good to use with chemotherapy to reduce the symptoms.

Thanks for the link, Rose. He drinks a bit of ginger ale. He has a script for phenagran (sp?) and he does take it when its real bad, but it makes him very sleepy and I think he waits too long to take it.

Jeannie have you tried those magnetic patches or bracelets for nausea? My Mom swears by them.

Jeannie—–My sister, 54, had breast cancer a few years ago, and I truely believe her very positive attitude and her so matter-of fact way of dealing with it was a big factor in her surviving. (She's cancer free now and has been sledding in her yard the past few days, among her many other "living" things.)

When I was a kid, just a few years back (okay about twenty some years ago), I had lots of kidney problems; my mother used to give me gingerale for nausea and honestly, to this day, I can not even smell the stuff without getting sick!
I feel awful for your husband; I have stomach trouble just from being stressed so I take zantac twice a day…I know this wouldn't help him, but listen, I found a link that may be helpful to you:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/heal…..er/ca00030; according to the mayoclinic, your husband's doctor can prescribe some really good medicine. I hope this may help. Stay strong.

Dear Jeannie, your husband and you are in my thoughts and heart. I'm not terribly religious but I believe in the strength of those who are, so I've asked the Sisters of St. Mary in Pennsylvania to keep you both in their prayers.
As for the nausea, ask his doc for Phenergan or some other anti-nausea medication. If he can't keep it down, you can it get it as a suppository – kinda gross, but it works. Also, ginger tea, plain rice, dry toast, and apple sauce are good foods for him. Strong odors may bother him, so no chitlins.
Feed him small meals 6 or 7 times per day. Keep high energy snacks available – nuts, cheese, deli meats, etc.
And try not to worry. I know it's easy to say and hard to do, but worry only wastes your energy when you need it for more important things.

I do not post often, but this touched my heart. God has individual plans for each of us. Don't spend time looking at stuff on the internet and get sucked into the fear factor. Many people have been healed as people on this sight have testified. They have the faith to believe for you, because they know it to be true. Your husband is not a statistic and I do believe the plan for his life is to be strong and healthy, prospering in all ways! God bless you and give you peace and a glimpse of HIs plan for your lives (not cancer's plan.) I know it is a good one!

A friend sent this link that I feel I should pass on:
Professional Housecleaning Maid Services for women with cancer
Unfortunately, we all probably know someone whose life is affected by cancer. I hope this link can bring some comfort to a deserving person.

I'm not going to get into a religious argument here, everyone is entitled to their own religious ideas and beliefs. I don't go to church, I haven't been through the doors of a church in many years, but I do know one thing from experience: Faith heals. I'm going to share something with you all; when I was eighteen, I died three times and my surgeon gave me less than a ten percent chance of living! Well, my family had me "put on a pray list"; I'm still not exactly sure what this does? But, I do know this–something woke me up! I was in a sort of coma; my husband tells me that summer of 98 was horrible! He said a huge storm went through our area and into Charlottesville VA where I was hopitalized; he told his mother, "Mom, Hollie just woke up!". Now he had no way of knowing this, but I did wake up! I remember there was lots of turbulence in the ICU; intercoms were going crazy, the generator was kicking on (I think) and people were running up the halls! My point is this: I feel that that storm was sent for me…crazy huh? Keep your faith….that's all I'm saying.

Thanks…I am glad I recovered also! Maybe my purpose in life is here….with you fine folks! But seriously, I feel very blessed; I've been through a lot that's true, but I still feel like there is much to do! Wow, I just read that again but I'm going to leave it just like it is because I think everyone else would like a good laugh; I'm very skilled with limericks, "There once was a lil old coup, that allowed in just one stup….she finally learned, meeting adjourned, and now we talk about soup"! See, I can be crafty!

Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions. We go for the second chemo on Friday. He does have the phenegran and takes it all the time. He went to the Dr last Friday and got a script for anti-depressants, I know that they take some time to get in your system and be effective, but I don't see any change at this point. Yesterday, he stayed in bed all day, only getting up to go to the bathroom and get something to drink. He says that he will fight when he talks with anyone, but he is in fact not. I have been through this process before with my mama and sister, they never gave up and didn't feel sorry for themselves. Hubby is different, if he were not so sick, I'd give him a kick!! Sorry to be a bother, but it feels better to let off steam here, can't do it at home!!
