OfflineIt seems like these days so many people are suffering from the effects of cancer. In my mind, cancer appears as a wispy finger of death, wrapping and coiling around its victims, choking them, drawing them away, causing them to convulse grotesquely in the throes of death. Few and blessed are they that, with perfect calm and unshakable faith, lay silent in the clutches of cancer and appeal to their Savior, not for healing, but that His will only be done. Such is the case of my 30-year-old uncle. He has been fighting a battle with colon cancer for nearly two years, and had even been declared cancer-free by the time of his birthday last year. Unfortunately the cancer came back. Early this morning, my grandparents were awakened by the sound of their Irish Terrier, Drin, barking and barking. At first they thought nothing of it, but the barks were sharp and annoying and they echoed off the empty walls and hardwood floors. My grandpa got up and found the dog, who was standing in front of my uncle's bedroom door and still barking. They found my uncle unconcious, lying the wrong way on his bed, and they called an ambulance. Once at the hospital he regained conciousness and was able to talk to my dad and his parents a little before throwing up and having a seizure. The doctors think that he passed out this morning due to a first seizure, which was sensed by the dog and set her off barking. They did a scan and found 3cm swelling in his brain. For now, he is resting in the hospital, and we'll be heading up there as soon as possible. Please pray for God's will to be done, and for the comfort of my grandparents who are obviously scared, and for the peace of my uncle. Conclusively, I can say with all certianty that I have never loved that yappy Irish Terrier dog more than I do now.

OfflineThanks so much for your prayers and support! We went to see him yesterday and will spend this Saturday at the hospital. He is very cheerful and positive, and not afraid to talk about things in a frank and realistic manner. It seems impossible to have fun under the circumstances, but we did; everyone (doctors and nurses, too) signed their names on a rubber chicken for him with sharpie markers, and my dad brought in some Escargot for him! The nurses can't believe how good his attitude is. Praising God for the little things every day!
