OfflineUpdate (such as it is):
I only knew about mamafox having to evacuate because she took the time to send me a PM to apologize for not being able to send the Mammy Jane book on schedule; she had packed it up with items she was evacuating and wasn't sure which tub it was in. I PM'd her to instruct her not to think about Mammy Jane and to attend to her more emergent matters. I have not heard back from her since the original PM, and I'm sure we all understand that it might be difficult for her to access not only the internet, but a computer as well. I do know that the news is reporting the possibility that if the levee is breached, her town may be underwater for as much as a month. This sounds very grave and worrying to me, so all of our prayers are still very much needed.

OfflineWell, so far no water in our town. After the flood of 1993, a small levee was built around the southern part of our town that sometimes floods from a small drainaige ditch. The farmers and other townspeople assisted by the Corps of Engineers built up that levee another 8 feet and covered the back side with plastic. It is about 3 miles long. The federal levee protecting us from the Missouri river has breached about 5 miles south of town. Water is up on this small levee, but so far is holding back the Missouri river water. There is a full cut-out about the size of a football field that is spilling huge amounts of water all over the bottom land, flooding many acres of farmland and completely inundating homes, some of which have collapsed from all the water. My husband and I moved to a higher part of town and hopefully we don't get water here. We had to move so fast, I have no idea where anything is. They are anticipating running the river way above normal levels until the end of the year. Just heard on the news that Gavins Point is going to be releasing even bigger amounts of water, so there will be many, many more towns and people affected. It's in God's hands, because everything has been done here that can be done, except pray. I appreciate all the prayer's sent this way for me and all those affected. This will be a long time recovery for a lot of farmers, townspeople and businesses. Thank you everyone.
