happy-flowerHello everyone, we wanted to pick apples today, but it is in the 40's and raining, so we went to the apple barn instead to buy some appes. Oh my! Such goodies! Every kind of apple, preserves, indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, fresh veggies, cider, and baked good brought in by the Amish. I was in Fall heaven.

We purchased a variety of apple called Pixie Crunch, which is simply delicious. It is sweet, jucy and very crisp. It is also good for baking as well, whcih makes it a winner in our family, I am sure apple dumplings are on the list this week.

What ever you did to day, I hope it made you happy.

Whah— I want to get my apples from the mountains, just can't fit a trip in right now!

I am so anxious to pick apples. Our planned trip last week got rained out. My daughter has a broken ankle this year which is going to make apple picking difficult but she insists that we have to do it. No breaking with tradition!

My apples are all canned, the jellies are so lovely.  Red Hot Apple Jelly and Apple Mint.  Jars of Apple butter are waiting for a cold winter day to be pried open and slathered on piping hot bread.  Today was the day for finishing the peach harvest.  Tomorrow peach butter and more jelly will be made.  I am going to try a Rum Peach butter recipe I found on the internet.  Will let you know how it turns out.  Thank God for a blessed garden season, with fall crops showing even more promise.happy-flower
