Cleaning the house.  Who wants to come finish up for me so I can just sit on the couch eating bon-bons and painting my toenails?

Mom and her girls are going to dinner and a movie tonight. Spending the night in Austin at Gias. Then in the morning Gia and I are hitting a few garage sales looking for baby beds and then taking a silver jewelry making class. I'm really excited about that. So I may not see you all till Sunday.

Sounds like a great time with mom and the sisters!!  Have a great time!!

I am doing a crazy ER shift similar to Georgia's from last week.  I worked from 7 – 3 then I am going back at 23 – 07.  I go back for my regular shift on Monday.  We can say no to the overtime, but its double pay and I am wanting to pay off some bills .

I got home and had a 2 hour nap, walked the dogs, watered the gardens in the back yard, made a seven layer dip for work and will have another nap … not bad I say.

After filling every available shelf in both refrigerators, and putting three gallons of goats milk in the freezer I decided it was time — either I start making cheese, or buy a pig.  Frankly the cheese making sounded easier than building a pig pen, so this morning I made my first goat cheese mozzarella.  Each gallon of goats milk makes between 12 and 16 ounces of mozzarella, so that's a pretty fair exchange.  I milk twice a day, and every two days my girls give me enough milk for another pot of cheese, plus enough left over to drink and have on cereal.

I don't know what I was scared of — after all if I screwed it up completely all I'd lose is a gallon of milk, and even then every animal on the place would enjoy that less-than-perfect cheese.  I didn't know that even the goats drink goats milk — sounds like cannabilism to me.  I made three batches of cheese, one gallon each, and each batch turned out differently though I swear I did exactly the same thing each time.  On to goat cheese (chevre) as my next project.  But not today.  Today it's time to catch up on the garden, canning, and actually cooking something for dinner. There are only so many times I can make a balogna sandwich for lunch and dinner before Mike begins to notice.

I've been home from an all day crop for a few hours.  Getting ready to go back and work some more on some stuff.  Everyone who saw the album I was working on was amazed at it.  Loved it!  Sure you don't want to see it Bee???? LOL!

Get a load guys!!! I am still in total shock over what I made today!

Not a very good picture but it is sterling silver with gold, a raw amethist and my engagement diamond.

I need to make a grocery run so the guys can eat next week while I'm gone.  Then I'm going to create and put in some pool time if it's not raining.

This is a little better picture of it. In 1987 when John and I divorced I had a ring made with my engagement diamond and this raw amethist. It was totally ugly, the girl jeweler had no idea what she was doing. So I took the ring and sawed it all apart and hammered it down to what you see here. The cross is sterling silver and the gold came from the ring. So I still got to use my diamond and amethist. I cannot believe how it came out.It wasnt suppose to have quite the odd shape, but as I worked on it, it grew on me.

Today I have to make a christening gown. Another huge project.

Georgia, it's very unique and that what makes it more beautiful!!  At least you were able to use the ugly ring and wear the jewels again!

That is absolutely gorgeous, G!  Wear it proudly.  Wow!

Today is a catch up day.  Ran way too hard last week and ran completely out of steam last night.  So it will be forced laziness today!

Did get some dish washing done, and started the wheat-in-the-freezer routine.  We took delivery of some bulk winter soft Montana red wheat this week.  It is organic, which means it includes some chaff, some odd seeds, and some stuff I don't particularly want to dwell on.  To make sure that any microscopic organisms (and insect eggs) don't multiply and ruin the crop, it must be frozen for about 72 hours (I always leave it in for longer, just because).  Then it can be safely stored at room temp.

So, we put as much as we could fit into the freezer in small containers, will leave it there then dump the frozen wheat into long term storage containers.  Then fill those now empty smaller containers with more wheat and repeat the process as long as it takes.

If anyone were to open the cooler sitting in the middle of the room looking for a cold drink they would be in for a surprise!  It's full of wheat!!  Happy Flower

Georgia I love how you did the pendant.  I love it's shape.  Isn't it great when we start out to do one thing and the end result turns out prettier than what we intended to do?
