Offlinehehehe… looks like Mamawolf has been nipping on the 'trandy'. How did you type a "t" instead of a "b"? That's two rows apart!!!! ![]()

OfflineOK now ladies. Let us not poke at the blind one fingered lady! How, you ask did I hit "t" instead of "b"? It takes a special talent given only to those of the Irish persuasion! And a little tot of the brandy helps it along. So far we have 2 gallons hidden away plus 15 1/2 pints of jam.
That is only half of one tree and the other tree is not ripe yet.
Can you say "overloaded with 'cors?

Offline Let's see 2 gallon of "trandy" and 15 1/2 pints of jam sounds like you're keeping things pretty equal…however if you wouldn't have hit the "b"…ottle maybe you would have had more trandy.![]()
Did you mean 15 halfpint jars of jam or 15 and one half pints of jam?
Whatever.. it sounds just Jam dandy. BTW, I found a recipe for Apricot Brandy Jam it sounded good to me.

OnlineYou guys are funny! At first I thought it was "apricot brandy jam" which really does sound very good, then I realized that it's two different things, apricot brandy and apricot jam. I make jelly out of wine, I bet there's a way to make it with a dab of brandy too!!! I'd have to use something besides apricots though since apricots are scarce in Ohio. Hmmmmm…..

Offlinehopefully this will take you to the recipe for apricot brandy jam
http://www.foodperestroika.com/2011/08/18/armenian-brandied-apricot-preserves/
this only makes a pint but I would think you could double the batch…it says it is adapted from the Ball Blue Book.
There are lots of apricot brandy jam recipes out there but most of them use dried apricots.

OfflineThere is a down side to getting the electricty back – one refrig never got connected to the generator and is in serious need of being sanitized. So, guess what is happening around here today! At least the contents went to the dump yesterday and I managed to spray the inside with vinegar before closing the door. Then the power came back on!
Then there will be some serious resting going on around here! As well prepared as we were, with more than enough dried foods, food in jars and all the candles and such, there is still plenty of stress related to being without electricity, and still having around a million of our "neighbors" without power. Especially in this heat.

OfflineBEG. Your post regarding making jelly out of wine (elderberry) intrigued me. I have some wine in the fridge that I want to make jelly out of (need the space). I found a recipe online that calls for 2 cups of wine. Mine only measures 1 1/2 cups. Can I add water to make to the 2 cups or should it be something else?
