At the moment I'm eating grilled cheese and strawberries with Baby Brooke. Her mommy and daddy went on a ghost walk downtown with friends. Maybe we'll get into the Halloween candy!

My day was supposed to be a super day, there was a big quiltshow in the city with lots of boots to buy “stuf”

I had saved up for it and went at 8 this morning to go and spent money.

I had a great day…lots of fabric, lots of patterns..and I came home so totally happy…

To get the shocking news..my little Jackson, the runt of the litter puppies we had this spring..the one I bottlefed for 6 weeks and was all time favorite….had run under a car and died.

When will I stop crying?

Oh, Astrid!  So very sorry.  In answer to your question – some day, but not today…  No

Consider having been given a huge, big hug from this dog lover to you.  And another one when you need it later.  Then tomorrow and the next day, too.

I am having a card party next week, a lady who I work with and who teaches classes is going to come over and bring her supplies.  I am excited.  I usually buy her cards if I need any, they are beautiful.

Today I am going to return to work with a smile, to face the hoards of panicked people who swear up and down they have the swine flu, or someone they know has the swine flu, or they heard the neighbor has the swine flu.  I will pick through the masses and determine, based on fairly good knowledge base, who has the flu (because you CANNOT determine H1N1 by symptoms) and isolate them.  I will then be berated by their friends, family, co-workers, garbageman, about not being allowed to visit and sit with them (as we try to limit exposure) and then the patient will berate me for not coming to check on them every 10 minutes (as we try to limit our exposure) and I will have to remind them repeatedly to keep the mask on, cover thier mouth when they cough if they do not have a mask on, and to not cough directly in my face (which annoys me whether they have the flu or not).

I will then field phone calls from family members who think their family member has the "swine" flu and what should they do and when I refer them to the appropriate help line I will again be berated for being "stupid".

And then, if I have kept myself clean and away from the flu patients, I will go and find a small child to make laugh because it will be the only bright spot in the day…. and they will not call me stupid.

Oh, and I am going drinking after work.

Although there are cases in towns and counties near me, Mike and I are not affected by the flu.  We are lucky, I guess, because living on a mountaintop we come in contact with very few people — unless we choose to.  A trip to the post office or to the gas station is about the limit lately.  The only groups I'll see this week are the ladies at the Tupperware party I attended last night, and the church group on Sunday.  I really pray we stay safe — many of the congregation are either elderly (some in not the best health) or quite young.

Today I'm going to spend the day watching Mike either sleep, or walk into walls.  He has vertigo that makes him look like he's walking on the deck of a pitching ship in a storm.  I'm hoping it will pass in a few days.  A few years ago I had a bout that lasted two months.  I got pretty good at walking while clutching furniture.  Mike's using his walking stick/cane for some stability.

Meanwhile, I can concentrate on projects without interruption.  Sorry Mike, but happy me!

They changed the day to change for us last year, we don't change ours until November 1.  And yes, makes for a very short day Cry  You go to work when it's dark, and come home when it's dark…….all you feel like you're doing is working (when I was working outside of the house — now I don't care!)

That sounds like a great time Shells!  I wish I were closer to join you. Kath, I hope Mike gets over his vertigo soon.  It's hard to function with that I know.

I'm off today for the fair this morning.  It's a gorgeously cool day.  I actually had to put an extra blanket on last night as we slept with the windows open.  I just love the fair.  The smells the people, the animals.  I'm taking my camera today, hope to get pictures of the animals.

When does Bee come home??  I miss her!

But it's purdy, Jayne!   Laugh

Today, finally getting to the mushroom soup.  The three pounds of shiitakes should make about 15 pints.  We shall see.  Those mystery amounts can be frustrating at the beginning, when trying to figure out how many jars to wash, but somehow it just doesn't matter when you look at the finished product, however much it turns out to be!

And if you wash too many jars you just have a counter full of really clean sparkling jars to admire along with the soup!

Apparently nothing productive.  Got up at 6 am, had coffee, checked in with CITR, took jacuzzi, more coffee, took leisurely drive to admire deer, turkeys, ducks.  Cut husband's hair, piddled, went down to ranch to feed rabbits, made lunch, catching up with CITR, taking a nap.  Perhaps something productive will happen after nap.

Tuesday, DH has another in a series of angiograms to check on stents, probable defibrillator implant later in the week so we are being pretty quiet.  His congestive heart failure has worsened and heart function is at 31% so he is going to have to decide something!
