We don't change the clock here..and I like it that way.

I;m going to pick up a billy this afternoon, who is coming to stay at our place for a month.

So he can do what billies are suppose to doCool

We are getting ready to take our nannies for a visit with a viral billy down the road.  I'm going to miss them so much!  It's a little too far to go and see them each day, but I'm sure I won't last a month without seeing them.  They are Nubians, with long floppy ears, and a mournful bleet designed to make me feel guilty if I haven't given them some grain as a treat.  They are my cute, cuddly puppy dogs with long legs!

How many nannies are you going to bring to the billy? and why to him…and not him to the girls?

I mean is there a special reason why you do it that way?

My girls are quite happy hahahaha, it seemed that one was in heat..and he got to the job right awayLaugh

I have two Nubian nannies that are at the end of their milk cycle.  When we bought them we didn't get any information about when they last kidded, but from watching the amount of daily milk go down I'm sure now is the time to start all over again with a new pregnancy.  We will bring the nannies to the billy because our friend has a pen with more secure fences than I have — and I'd be scared I'd lose him!  Our girls are just like family pets.  They don't go anywhere, even though they could walk right through our open gate.  I think this way is best for all.  They will be penned instead of free to range as they are here so I'll have to bring a bag of goat chow (or two) to tide them over.  I don't have any idea whether either will be interested in the new boyfriend, but I'm hoping they will get into the mood even if they aren't now.

With each new species it seems I have to learn the rythm of their cycles.  Our Suffolk and Dorset sheep breed whenever the fancy strikes.  With our porous fences that means we have lambs whenever they show up — often as a BIG SURPRISE!  It's hard to tell when a sheep is pregnant, versus just fat and wooly.  Our ewe that looks most like she's ready to have a lamb actually has a 2 1/2 month old at her side, so I'm darn sure she can't be as pregnant as she seems to be.

I am still contemplating what my day will be ….. it should include some housework.  I have laundry going, have stripped beds, could do some things in the yard ……. who knows.

Suzanne's post yesterday (about the pears) reminded me that I had two bushels of pears, forgotten on the shelf in the root cellar along with bushels of apples waiting to be made into apple butter, etc.  So today I peeled pears.  And peeled pears.  And peeled more pears.  Now I have a roasting pan in the oven on low slowly turning those pears into pear butter — and maybe tomorrow's pears will end up as Pear Honey — got to try the new recipe!

I will go look for the Steve Martin banjo music – after Dancing with the Stars.  I'm enjoying a second glass of wine tonight – for medicinal purposes only – and then watching my show.  Work was it's usual Monday mayhem.  I love pompous asses, how 'bout you?

I deleted my last two paragraphs as I decided I must have inheritied Maud's snit from yesterday.  Love you!

There are only two ways to live your life: one is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Wine is medicinal Barb!  I have doctor's orders to drink it!  I'm skipping tonite tho.  I came home and took a nap, which reduced the stress.  Now I'm off to the scrap room.  I have a recipe card swap to make.  I think I'm going to do my chicken spaghetti recipe.

After that, I'm doing Christmas cards.  I'm so inspired this year to do Christmas cards!

Just got back from dinner with my better half…I burned my tongue on creamy jalapeno soup…and it was the best meal!  (except for burnt tongue)

Must be even worse with a tongue that was already sore from biting it.

Good morning!  I've got lunch cooking, laundry going.  I'm going to sneak out for a couple of hours and work with Fable the pony on her driving skills.

Out in the chicken house Daisy Mae is setting six eggs, and the baby guineas are all feathered out.  The guy are out working the new cattle that got in last night.

Quarter horses, Welsh ponies and Arabians
