I was resting after a full morning until just a few minutes ago.  I have a serious health issue so my husband does a lot of my shopping and he has my list and he is calling me every 10 minutes checking of things like name brand or store brand…jar size….

I need to go and spit shine my kitchen…I gave it a "good enough for government work" or lick and a swat earlier but I still need to get in there and do a good job.

and then there is all kinds of produce waiting in the garden for me to get there…

I need to strip the beds and wash the sheets up.  Wash a few quilts and hang them outside to dry.

I really hate to dust but that needs to be done too.  I let it go as long as I can…I just hate dusting.

Other than baking up a couple loaves of bread for the weekend, I don't have anything else really pressing to get done.

Oh, I have a pot of rooted rose cuttings that I need to pot up in little cups to grow a better root system so I can put them in bigger pots.

I might put a chicken on to simmer so I can make a pot of chicken and dumplings for supper.  I could whip out some nice crusty rolls to have for dipping in the juice.

TGIF! My wkend starts on Fridays. Usually I go out for lunch with my daughter and her baby. BUT, Baby Brooke has missbehaved the last 2-3 times we've gone out to lunch on Fridays. She wont sit in a high chair or booster seat and throws a fit, kicking and screaming and crying when you try to put her in one. Then she stands in the booth turns around and jibbers at the people sitting behind her! ( okay, that parts cute). Then she tries to get down and run around the resturant and cries when she doesnt get her way. She doesnt eat more than a couple bites of food, and we cant either when trying to keep her under control! She's going on 2yrs old if that tells you anything! So, her mommy says we cant take her out for lunch any more until she learns some manners!NoPink Rabbit

While I love to cook and I love to eat, I absolutely dread the shopping part of food…….and that is on my agenda today!  But I'm going to have an amazing Thanksgiving dinner to show for it! Happy Flower  I'm going to go ahead and do the shopping I normally would at the beginning of the month, too, so I won't have to go back!! Spinning Devil

I don't mind the shopping I just don't like bringing it in and putting it away.

My day is going to be spent cleaning now thats something I really hate to do. In between cleaning I am going to be cooking, I have family coming in from out of state today.  It will be a week filled with food and good times.

I need to go pick up a few things from the store that I'll need for Thanksgiving too.

I don't mind shopping, I hate the crowds and rudeness of people this time of year seems to bring out in some people!  All the pushing and grabbing.  I have to really bite my tongue sometimes and other times I just tell them how rude they are!

I do hate putting stuff away too.  Usually I have to clean the fridge out before putting more junk in!

About 5 years ago, dreading that push/pull rudeness of the shopping season, I decided to try to make it through the season by changing my own attitude in hopes of changing the same for a few others.

I stopped and let cars out in traffic and waved. Most smiled and waved back. When someone was trying to be pushy with their buggy/cart, I backed up and said "go ahead I am not in that much of a hurry" and smiled. Many thanked me or turned red and backed up themselves. Etc.

One day at the lunch table I shared this with my (then) boss. Between bites of his apple, he paused and said "and why are you only doing this for the holidays, Dede?".

OUCH

Not to sound like a Pollyanna, cause I am as human as anyone, but it's amazing what doing these things do for our OWN mood.

I have to remind myself often to Stopand remember that I AM one of 'them' if I act the way they do…..

Try it – will make you feel good, and that's HUGE.

We have a cousin over for a few days and he is helping me today to do a minor surgery on one of our goats.

She has an infection in her neck. he tried last summer (just cut it) but it came back, so we will do it again today but also have some kind of  peniciline and we will squeeze that into the  cut.

Hope that will help.

Another thing yesterday I found online an add, for an oldfashion (BEAUTIFUL) to gas converted cookstove..AND I WANT IT.

So now I can only hope it is not sold yet..and that tonight it will be in my kitchen.

Keep my fingers crossed..she hasn't replied on my mails yet…I will wait 1 more hour and than I will start calling.

(i want it i want it…I soooo  want this stove)

Good Luck Astrid!!!  This is more like what I DID with my day since it's nearly 5:30 here. I had a nice visit with my sister in law who came over with her hubby to trade tractors (we have a backhoe)…took the dogs for a walk but could have strangled them since they didn't listen and took off into a field!…and now I have Suzanne's Sour Cream Enchilada's baking in the oven. So far …other than the dogs…it's been a great day! Oh…I need to work on my gift…I'm so slow but I'm rusty at crocheting and I feel like a klutz! Oh well…it won't be perfect but it comes from the heart. Fork

Got out amongst 'em today and still must put away groceries.  And work on a couple of small projects.  (Laundry doesn't count as a small project any more!)

Yep, this is a past tense post for me too!  I just got back from taking my pop to a doctor's appointment and then getting some bedding shavings and chicken feed for the 'girls' and some cat food too.  Now I have supper cooking, some previously fried and frozen eggplant, layered with some homemade spaghetti sauce and a bit of parmesan cheese, (not much cause it's too salty for my dad, just for flavour) and some Italian sausage browning.  I'll boil up some whole wheat pasta … or some Barilla Plus, anyone tried that?  Quite healthy compared to regular pasta and very tasty.

It's not a -super- healthy meal but I'm as careful as I can be with salt and fat, and try to reduce salt wherever possible for him, (me too I suppose!)  The sausage is pushing the fat a bit, but it's a treat just for now and then really.

For anyone that I hasen't seen, I care for my pop who has high BP, some heart disease, and needs to be a little careful with diabetes.  LOL, sounds awful doesn't it?  But hey, he's turning 91 next month, so really, it's darn good! Yes  It's just very minimal salt, low (to moderate?) fat, lots of whole grains and as much exercise as possible for him. Cool

My day is DONE!  Now it is all ME time…LOL  Got the dishes washed, my bath over, lathered head to toe with moisturizer so now I can relax.

I remembered Buckeyegirl that you took care of your Dad.  I took care of my Mom until she passed away in April of this year.  She was 74, had COPD/Emphysema/CHF and still lived alone in her house.  I drove over every day and did for her, took her to the Doctor and cleaned up things.  She would not move in with me at all!  And she refused to live with my sister…that's a whole 'nother story concerning her!

But, it was a good day.  Got my shopping done, things put away and supper cooked.  Meatball subs with oven baked fries. It was very good.

Now I'm having a nice glass of red wine with my itallian supper!  I'm drinking it out of a coffee cup so my dad doesn't want any too much.  He can't have alcohol because of both the sugar and some of his meds, so this is MINE!!  LOL.

We do 'split' a beer now and then while watching a football game or something, but he knows it's a big treat and I arrange his medicine time to adapt!  Laugh
