Here at the "Not so Grande Rancho"  we are settling in for a quiet weekend.  I have been getting my chores done and getting prepared for tomorrow.  None of our children are coming home this year and we are truthfully in need of the rest so it's OK with us.  I have half of a turkey to cook and I made the cornbread for dressing and have it drying now.  The sweet potato pie is in the freezer and I just took a loaf of bread and a tray of homemade rolls out of the oven….We are looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow with all the chores done today.  Since I have been sick, I depend a lot on a young woman that helps me clean and she has been here today working her magic.

Hope you all have the bird thawed…

Yes Leah 3 of them!  I of course thought of you as I lined them up on the counter…LOL

I have my turkey thawed, stuffed with celery sticks, halved onions, a lemon and an orange.  I covered it good and put her back in the fridge until around 5:00am in the morning.  I should have been up long enough to swig a cup or two of coffee and start to get ready for the day.

I'll make the dumplings and drop them in boiling broth…bake the rolls and what else?  I can't even think straight right now. LOL

Ugh!  Gotta love well water!  Vinegar is in it now, lots of iron and sediment coming out, this run should hopefully loosen things so the next batch should get even more out.  HOW can I be anemic when I've been drinking this stuff for years?

I want COFFEE Not Vinegar water!!!  Hissy Fit

Ok, tantrum is over thank you very much!

Well, either we have as a community gotten so tired that we have become easily amused, or maybe it was that extra coffee kicking in…     Help

We already had our Thanksgiving in October..so this is a relaxing day compare to most of you.

I'm going to finish my swap gift….It is ready to be mailed out except for one item that nees 0.5 inch of velcro.

I was out…hub picked it up in the city..(60miles) had no idea what to look for and bought a package where some nice shopper took out one side of the Velcro.

So finally i found some in our own town….6 miles away, so..my dear swappartner.. YOU BETTER LIKE IT hahahaha

Watching the Macy's Parade.  As always, it is great.

Just saw a group which really warmed my heart.  There was a group of grandmas and great grandmas doing drill team sorts of things – on tricycles!  From Zanesville, OH.  Adorable, and riding those trikes the entire parade route.

Must put a few finishing touches on a hand crafted gift going into the mail this week-end.  This has been so much fun!

Then going to tackle some kitchen clean-up.  Took a good look around and decided that there were some things which simply HAD to be done before another canning operation began.  There is just so long that a body can ignore things which are screaming to be done!  After that, will can some cranberries, but looking at what all needs to be done in that kitchen, there may be no canning done until tomorrow…   Surprised

David and I have been out at the "back 40" burning brush/limbs/trees all day long!   At least it was a nice cool day for it.   Around lunch time I crawled up to the house, made a pot of coffee, turkey sandwiches and sliced some pound cake(orange pound cake!) and took it out to the burn pile.  We had a nice picnic as we burned.

This morning before heading outside I put the turkey corpse in the crockpot and now have a nice pot of broth to make some noodles in.  That is, if I have enough strength left to roll the noodles out.   LOL
