Went to farmer's markets..found some delicious peaches! First of the season. I can't remember the name of them, they are so sweet and flavorful! I may make some peach salsa. We are on the hunt for a good hoe. My husband did the classic double take when I told him this morning "you need a good hoe".laugh Oh my!

I'm also going to do some baking today, cookies or brownies for the volunteer firemen.  Tomorrow is "extracation training" for all with a pot luck after.  I know everyone will be hungry after sawing up vehicles!  I may even want to try it!

Busy, busy around here!  Started off cleaning and seasoning 4 cast iron skillets we found during the chicken house construction.  Don't ask  butterfly  just know that I'd been wondering where they went!  Had to get out the wire brush for this job.

Then, we moved the brood outside for some confined ranging.  What a HOOT!!!  Got all the shavings cleared from the living room, the front porch and the ramp where they fell during transit to the yard, then hosed down the dog crate pans, the porch, and the ramp.  You know how things like that lead to something else – so now all the porch mats have been scrubbed as well.  Hmmm.  Wonder why there are 6 Welcome mats on the front porch, plus 6 more brand new ones thrown over a chair…  (A good guess would be that they were a good deal, and will probably be used some day?  I dunno…)

The introductions went very well between the rooster (Magnum) and the girls and the guinea.  Am wondering now if the guinea is a she because Magnum put his head up to the crate several times for him/her (Henry/Henrietta) to peck him.  Not even a flinch for the pecks!

Magnum finally gave up and went back to his pen for food and water, but the pecking at the ground and general posturing for this new found treat called grass continues.

All the babies will be in their new house this evening!  Permanently!!

What did I do today…well, let's see…

I woke up at 6am

fed chickens, ducks, geese, puppies, and big dogs

walked to my dads little cottage apt in back yard and woke him up

fixed him breakfast; gave him meds; help him get dressed

got myself dressed

checked computer

grabbed my junk and went to work

worked from 8-5 the last hour by myself because everyone in the office either was off or had errands or just took advantage of the bosses being gone  (did I mention I had one heck of a day at the office)

went to grocery store and spent my life savings on a few bags of groceries

came home (hubby cooked and used about four times the amount of macaroni necessary but hey he cooked…of course he cooked spaghetti sauce out of a jar and macaroni but what the hey….and then he got in pool with kids…..his day over)

unloaded before mentioned groceries and put them away

hauled off SEVEN bags of trash that had been sitting by my backdoor that both teenage son and husband have walked by 908709 times and ignored for the last two weeks.

mopped dads apt because he cant see well and spilled apple juice

cleaned up the million ants that were partying in apple juice spill

fed chickens, geese, ducks, pups, dogs

power washed puppies pen (you can imagine…8 lab puppies …….need I say more)

fed dad supper

washed a load of clothes

took watermelon rind out to chickens

(hubby and kids still in pool)

swept off porch

now sitting here steaming irked resting before I tackle the rest of it….

sorry for the rant but you did ask what I was doing with my day !

If you can't rant here, where else would you do it?

If I can say one thing, at least he was out from underfoot if he was in the pool!  Yes, I'm one of those annoying glass half full sort of people, and I also like mornings!  … I'll go away now!  hug

You better let your family know how you feel or it will be worse than an exploding canner full of pinto beans!bomb

Or you might throw a raw hamburger patty on the wall and scream "I can't take it anymore!"hissy-fit However…if I remember right that did get everyone's attention.surprised

I would say most of us have been there or at least near there. I am sure most of us would also say that being the silent martyr won't get you anything but steaming irked high blood pressure. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Find a way to see some humor in the situation. That always helps me. In the meantime I'll pray for you. (seriously)

This is all easy for me to say…I had a very relaxing day with my 10 year old Grandson!

Thanks! lol Buckeye girl I was just coming back to apologize for my rant since I know every single woman on this forum has had days like that and definately didn't want to hear me bellyaching. You do have a point. At least he wasn't underfoot! I love your attitude. I am going to have to remember that next time I am ready to wring his neck!

Miss Judy, I like the hamburger patty a lot!  Much better then the time I threw my favorite coffee cup.  I loved that coffee cup… and throwing it (not at anyone don't worry!) I just went out back meaning to calm down, and sort of lost it…. but I can never replace it since it was a one of a kind hand thrown one, so the hamburger patty sounds darn SMART!

Yes lifeisgood, we've all had em, so we all understand!

Aahhh, you guys are so baaaad!!!   wink  Got me laughing this morning!

Today is face to face, unrestrained introduction day.  Everyone gets along so well through the crates that I expect all to go very well.  The guinea and the rooster seem to already be best buds!  Never imagined it, but the guniea just sits there with him making happy noises.  Will try to get the camera focused on them a bit anyway…

well today wasn't quite as bad as it should have been because I got a lazy streak and just flat out didn't do a lot that was on my "to do" list but I did make the tamale recipe from farm bell recipes and it was DELICIOUS!

I think I am going to have another lazy streak tomorrow and make husband take me to see karate kid.

Sure hope it's OK to have the occasional down day because this was one here.  It's rained ALL day, so outside activity was limited.  The brood is doing very nicely in their new digs.

I had expected to make roosts today, but I simply will NOT use power tools in a thunder storm!  Did lay some 2x4's across the tops of the crates so that there would be something there besides wire.  The girls have discovered flying…

This is MUCH better than TV!!  It DID stop raining long enough a couple of times to get to the chicken house to get a dose of entertainment.

I spent most of the day re-packaging some meats after a big shopping day yesterday.  I just ran out of steam once we got home!  So I made meatballs, mixed up meatloaf, re-packaged some steaks while cooking Lemon-Artichoke Chicken for supper.  Though I broke the FoodSaver machine…but whew!  It's okay!  Guess I'll go pour a little of that wine that I used in the chicken!  fork

Good grief!!  This was supposed to be a restful day – no particular plans except to take it easy.  So what did I do?  Since the A/C guy was suppose to be back today to do some additional work (he came after 6:30 last night to get the A/C going, since we've been without since Saturday), a couple of things in the yard seemed like good little projects to bide the time.

It started off cool this morning.  First, the baby fowl needed some supervised free range time.  Then, a little weed eating seemed in order.  Construction completely tore up one flower bed, so I started moving the edging rocks back into place.  Then the big rock upon which sits a pot of impatiens, then the rocks screamed (yes, they were literally screaming for further attention!) that they wanted some dirt added.  So, a couple of wheelbarrow loads of compost added to the bed.  Then the rocks demanded that those final pots of annuals that had long since outgrown their little six-packs really deserved to be added.  An odd mixture they are, with some lime basil thrown in for good measure, but it looks pretty good!

When the mulch began telling me that it wanted to go down in the bed I decided it was time to come inside – heat stoke was obviously imminent if rocks and other inanimate objects were now talking to the voices in my head…

Today is one of the "a little of this and a little of that" kind of days.  Cornbread in the oven for cornbead salad later.  Gonna make some hot dog chili, from Dede's recipe (think we will only do half of that 10# of meat recipe!), play with the chicks, and console the neighbors as we can.  They lost their entire flock yesterday to preditors, which might explain why we are paranoid about leaving our babies unattended for even a few minutes.

Preparing for gnoshing all weekend!  Grilling hot dogs, may put some baked beans in later as well.  Fireworks tomorrow.  We usually go camping this weekend with friends so haven't been home in several years.  This should be a fun weekend in the neighborhood!

Well, it's a fairly cool day today so I'm going to go out and mow the lawn later in the afternoon.  I got some easy and grillable meats yesterday at the store, so I hope to not have to cook much.  I've got some macaroni salad made, and will even heat the beans out on the side burner of the grill.

I have some store bought cream puffs for a treat for today, (my diabetic father will think it's a huge treat, but they really aren't very high in sugar), and may bake a cake late tonight for desert tomorrow.  frost it with white frosting and sprinkle it with strawberries and blueberries!  (not make a flag, just sprinkle, just have to settle for the colors, not the pattern!)

Other than that, I'm washing and hanging out laundry since it's such a fantastic day out there!  YAY!  sun

I milked..and went back to bed, to catch up on sleep for a wedding tonight.

While I'm waiting for somebody who is borrowing a goat from me today, I'm browsing Internet to make my shopping list.

Next week we are going to Edmonton..and Edmonton has an Ikea..so I'm making a list…correction..I'm making a HUGE list.

They have so many cute things I can use in crafts for Christmas gifts, I better stock up because I'm only there once every so many years.
