The people in the state and local offices are there because you are not in an unusual oor unique situation. It happens so often, to so many women, that they have established full time departments just to help.

Get a lawyer. Get a lawyer. Get a lawyer. DON'T MAKE ANY DECISIONS WITHOUT LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND more importantly, ADVICE.
Also,don't let the first "turn-down" from state resources be the last. They will deny you up to 3 times before they will do something. Unfortunately in my case, when they finally got around to actually offering help, I was well on my way to not needing it, but I had to fight like heck to get anything. Keep going back and talking to people. Become a pest, stay polite, and firm, but be a pest. Formulate a plan to show you don't plan on staying on the system, but you do need it as a lifeline.
And when you can get your head above water, you will see that there is life ahead, and you will find happiness again. Just for now take it one day at a time. AND FIGHT. FOR YOU AND YOUR DAUGHTER. Y'ALL DESERVE IT.
