It's raining today!  We've had temps in the 30's this past week, but the rain is really melting the snow now!  We've lost at least 6 inches so far this morning………still can't see my deck or the grass in the backyard, but it's getting closer!!! Shimmy

Rain this morning.  Now it's just cloudy, muggy, dank.  Snow all gone here, finally this week.

Ditto on the cloudy and murky. I do like the warmer temps but it's raining and we're under a flood watch in several counties. Staying inside anyway doing fun things like laundry Hissy Fit

Rain, rain, & thunderstorms. I went to town earlier, and Highway 411 had flooded. There were huge chunks of asphalt washed away on the road & the police had one lane blocked, because it was mostly under water. My yard is like a wet sponge, & the chickens haven't so much as peeked outside the coop today. Man, those dogs are gonna stink tonight when they come in.Smiley Puppy

Right now it is a lovely 55* out.  But in the morning a freezing rain will begin and we will get 1-2 inches of ice and they are predicting power outages.  My water heater is gas and my stove top is gas.  So, I might get cold but will be clean and well fed.

It's a windy, chilly 11 degrees out here!!

Sandra, hope your electricity stays on!!  And hopefully you have no where you need to be except for home!  Turn the oven on and stay warm (or at least not frigid)!!!

Thanks Cindy, I have to be at school (work) at 7 a.m. tomorrow, but I will check the school closings before I head out.  You stay warm, too.

-4 windchill this morning!!!  The wind doesn't usually blow at night, but it's been howling all night……. The nice January thaw was wonderful for a couple weeks, but I think true Michigan winter has returned Cry

What about rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, Leah?  That works very good for a deicer!

Now this is just weird.  It is 6 degrees warmer this morning than it was last night.  Hmmm.

We are expecting more snow this weekend, too.  Well, it is winter, after all!    Happy Flower

Well!  I'd say we've had 4-5 inches of snow, that's what it looks like on the bird feeder anyway.  I'll be going out to check on the hens soon and fill the feeders (wild and domestic!), so I'll update soon. Oh, Temp is 22f (-5 or -5.5c) according to the fairly inaccurate thermometer outside the kitchen window.

I live on a river, (the upper Cuyahoga) and there was quite a wide stretch of clear water yesterday, but this morning it's frozen clear across… for now, thanks to weeks of cold temps plus a slushy layer of snow across the top I'm sure.  The Canadian Geese which have been gathering along the river will be disappointed though.  They've been gathering on the river since the still water on the lakes and ponds around here has been frozen for some time now.

It's a cold 3 degrees this morning, but the sun is showing through the trees and the frost on the fence looks absolutely beautiful!  No snow forecasted here until Tuesday!!!!  Everyone south stay warm and safe, hoping ALL electricity stays on!

It's snowing!  It is beautiful, but very heavy and wet.  With our soggy ground, I sure hope the trees stay upright.

On the up side, it started at midnight, then slacked off for much of the night into very light snow.  What's coming down now is some serious snow!  Temp is around 33 degrees F.  Snow is sticking anyway, with a lot of slush.

WEATHER UPDATE!  Did I say 4-5 inches?  Well, that's what it looked like from the nice warm kitchen window…. my barn boots say it's more like a foot…. higher in the drifts. Cat thought it was great fun to leap from one footprint to the next, if he tried to get out of the footprints, he stood there sort of cemented into the snow trying to figure out how to leap to another safe space…  then he decided the sofa sounded like a better idea.

"at home" the snow is melting, here in the Netherlands it is cold, clowdy and damp.

Right now I'm trying to fit everything in my suitcase(s), tomorrow I'm going to my boys (husband and 2 sons) and all my farmbabies again.

It was good being here…but I long for home… 10 days without boys, dogs, cats, chickens, goats and pig…is long enough
