Yesterday or the day before I saw an idea that  I would like to make.  I can't find it now.  Any one out there know who's site it is?  They took a Ball quart jar and used a wire around the top opening.  They attached a chain to make a hanger.  You can then put flowers into the jar and hang it on a door knob.  Thanks for any help you can give me.  I want to show my husband so he can make me one.

I put it in Google Search and came up with a couple sites with pictures of this idea. I put in the search line. "Ball Mason jar hanger holder etc. It's a neat looking idea.

Shabby Chic I think was one of the sites.

All you need is a piece of number 12 or 14 copper wire, form it into a loop and slip it over the rim of the jar and twist it tight forming an eye.

Ramona, I don't think it was discussed here…or I missed it.

But I tried to find some for you, if you go to google images and type in majon jar haning flowerpot..you will get A LOT of pictures.

I'm pretty sure you can find one you like to show your hubby.

I liked the ones who were attached to a piece of wood with one of those big hose clamps.

Guess I have a few cute weekend projects coming up myself, thank you for the idea.

I found this, and several other projects by the same etsy person.  I'd feel guilty about stealing her ideas, but it's not as if it's rocket science, people who don't want to take the time and trouble to do it themselves will order from them and that's all there is to it.  We're probably providing free advertising to these guys!  chicken

They give some good close ups of the wires so hopefully it's helpful!

We have several of the small jam jars done up the same way as the quarts sized ones in Buckeye Girls picture and we use them for starting house plant cuttings in. They are great for hanging in a window.

Ok . Here it comes! You need cuttin pliers, a number 2 phillips screw driver, 4 feet of number 14 bare copper wire. (source from scrap house hiring). Step one. bend the wire around the shank of the screw driver and clamp the wire tails in the vise leaving the loop and about 3/4 inch gap between the loop and the vise jaws. Twist it into a tight pigtail with the screw driver.

Placete wire around the top of the jarand half way around make a 90 degree bend.

Locate the center of this bend and wrap it into a loop on the screw driver and using the vise twist it into a pigtail.

It should look like this. Wrap this around the jar under the flange and cross the ends and give them a twist by hand.

Photobucket has frozen up on me so I am going to post this much and try not to loose it.

I am back up so here is some more.

Twist the ends tight with pliers and cut the pigtail to about 3/4 inch long and bend it into line with the wrap around wire. Twist the loops so that the holes are horizontal. make a bail from a 20 inch piece and pinch the loops of the bail closed .

I checked the time on my pictures and from first photo to finished was 8 minutes.

You know, hanging jars are getting really popular. I've seen them in the stores as hummingbird feeders, candle holders, etc. and they're not cheap! Isn't it awesome that we can just make them ourselves?

That Etsy link Deb provided has some really nice ideas for jars. I like the solar light lids!

They are lovely and would be real pretty to round to hang in the garden on a nice summers evening for a special barbeque with tea lights in them. They would be wind proof as well.

Even if you buy new jars and wire them yourself they are less than a buck each. I showed the one I wired for the camera to Nancy and she promptly hung it on a hook on the porch ceiling.

I have a redbud tree just off our back porch that I have been hanging mason jars with tea lights in them for the last couple summers.  I also use them when we are camping.  They are great.  They don't blow out when the wind comes up.  Last summer I painted some jars with the food colored modpodge and put the solar lights on top.  So pretty!  I have become mason jar crazy.

Hi,

Thank you to those who mentioned nice comments about the items in my Etsy shop, TreasureAgain. I appreciate it!

In reply to BuckeyeGirl’s comment , it’s not rocket science when someone else figures it out for you. I list the DIY wire sets since so many customers wanted to use the wire hangers I created, on their own jars that they already owned.

I spend many hours twisting wire on jars I’ve salvaged , to figure out the best options for my customers. A lot of them are created for custom requests. The items are created and made by me.

If you have any questions about the Mason Jar Solar Light lids or other canning jar pieces, please check out my shop:

Thank you!
