OnlineI hope you got a lot of visitors from us here at Chickens in the Road TreasureAgain. I hope I didn't offend you with my remark, I sure didn't mean to and I sincerely apologize if I did. It isn't rocket science, but it is very nice work and I also didn't intend to imply that it is easy to accomplish. I and many of the other folks here who craft, understand and respect the work it takes to create anything at all, and your hanging jars are beautiful, as is the photography which shows them off so well.
As I said, people who don't wish to take the time and trouble it takes to create them, (or the sore hands that it no doubt causes) will visit and purchase them from you, so I hope folks from here visited to see your work and possibly to purchase them for gifts or to hang in their own gardens now that spring is coming.

OfflineHi Everyone! I make the style of jars only with baby food jars…since I had quite a few of them! I have sold a few but I have also given many away as favors & such. I know its a pretty basic craft but I have a blog post on some other ideas for the baby food jars, if you would like to check it out :)
Here is the initial post -http://www.stoneycreekshops.com/2011/01/upcycled-baby-food-jar-lanterns.html
More recently I added a ribbon around the rim that coordinated with my little one's 1st Birthday party theme and gave them away as favors -http://www.stoneycreekshops.com/2011/04/planning-evas-1st-birthday-party.html

OfflineThanks Ross
!! You are a dear for the instructions. I have been saving jars for this very project. I do weddings in my backyard and I have been wanting to decorate with several of these, would be so cool for an evening ceremony.
And thanks JOJO, I have two sweet potato vines I have started and was wondering what to put them in, right now they are in soda cups. LOL
Also TreasureAgain, your shop is awesome!!
Hope everyone is having a GREAT day!

OfflineThose are gorgeous. I agree they look too fragile to hang in the wind, especially the way the wind blows in Colorado and Arizona, but hanging in a window where the sun shines they would be beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

OfflineYou know I could have dusted and cleaned them before I took the pics! Dang old age, I am getting more forgetful everyday.
I have had these little jars I'm guessing around 15yrs now. I really have forgotten when I bought them. I purchased them at a craft fair. Haven't seen them since.
I think instead of drilling holes around the top for the fishing line you could do like the mason jars and wrap wire around the top to make the holder.
Usually in the spring I will put a big fake yellow daisy in them while they hang in the window. The mouth is just not big enough to put one of those flicker lites in them, thought that would be cool.
Your so right mammawolf, you must live out west, our wind is so strong those little chimes would be broken in seconds!
I hope everyone has a blessed Easter, and lots of fun!

OfflineMountain Blessings are the "danglies" made of stained glass? I have been running their make up through my mind and would like to make some for gifts. The blue jar reminds me of an old medicine bottle my grandmother had when I was small, maybe Bromoseltzer.
Yes I live in the West – Colorado Springs Colorado where the wind has been especially wicked this spring. .

OfflineHey Paws! When I saw these little guys I just had to have them. It was a local craft fair I saw them at and have never seen them since. The person who made them also made them from all kinds of old bottles. I remember she had some made out of the old purex bottle, you know the big brown bottles, with beads and chimes.
Your right mamma wolf, the blue one says bromoseltzer on the side and the chimes are made from stain glass and are still sharp after all these years. The springs huh? I visit there often, my two dearest friends live there near the mall on Chapel Hills. Yes our weather is very similar, windy and wild.
I hope everyone has a great Easter!
