Offline hilarious…I never ever thought of using baking powder for my hair cleaning…
so, what made so many of you stop using shampoo?
I have been reading about laureth and other disturbing chemicals in shampoo…and am so disappointed that something as pleasurable as shampoo is badbadbad. What about coloring ?
I have a daughter that is anxious and now I wonder if it's the products she uses on her hair.
does frizz-ease or any of the glossers work against her?
she is the only of us 13 with really curly hair …and she puts stuff in there that she never rinses so she can keep it tamed/// where do i get the info to prove this to her? that it might be awful and precipitating moods and anxiety?
thanks everyone… I enjoyed the thread and I will see you also on retreat ! I am very excited…

cincy…I sympathize, and also know that once you start…the rest of the journey will unfold. Just get into the car and drive ( with directions of course ) we will pray you all the way there, !
book on tape ( or disc, I guess ) delicious treats and not too much drinking ( less stops ) will do you good…

OfflineHey Laur. I stopped using shampoo because I was tired of buying it, and my hair looking dirty within a day, and always having to condition so that I could get my hair brushed out, and losing tons of hair.
I absolutely LOVE the baking soda. It's easy, it's cheap, I know exactly what's in it, and it's incredibly effective. My dandruff/itchy scalp has completely disappeared. I can go much longer in between cleanings without my hair looking gross. And my hair is highlighted, and it doesn't hurt the highlights a bit. My hair & scalp are the healthiest they've ever been. I can't recommend trying it highly enough. :) I've heard that people with curly hair love it, but I can't say. I would recommend having your daughter try it for a week. If she doesn't like it, she can go back to shampoo.

OfflineI'm a packin!!!!
And I'm bringing Baking Soda, too! Figured if they pull me over, I'd keep the window rolled up and do my Cheech and Chong routine and sing, "Keep a knockin but you can't come in". LOL
Sheets – check, towel – check, pillow – check, clothes – ??? (remember, I'm indecisive but my underclothes and pjs are ready), baking soda – check, ride to work – check (a true friend gets up early to get you to work by 5:00am), rental car booked – check, food to keep me going on the trip – ??? (God will provide), gas money – check (I have the best boyfriend!!!). Hotel – NOPE (still indecisive and its an adventure, right) hope there's nothing big going on in Ripley tomorrow night (but I have sheets and a pillow and a back seat, right?). Will they let me sleep at the police station…I have baking soda and donuts
!!!!!! Toothbrush and baking soda!!!!! – check! Soap – ????…I have baking soda!!!!! Deodorant – check and…I have baking soda!!!!!
Well, baking soda won't wake me up at 3:00a.m. So, good night and I'll see you soon!!!!![]()
Thanks everyone for the support and advice. I should be good to go 'cause I've got baking soda and it is the cure for everything… that and vinegar!!! Oh, and wine. No open flasks, here!
MrsFuzz, do y'all check thermos' and coolers?
New thought…Can you repurpose those baking soda packing peanuts by grinding them up for shampoo? Maybe CindyP will give us a breakdown of what the peanuts are made of during the soap class?

OfflineTo all of you who are going to the retreat/party I wish you God speed and safe driving. My oldest DS once told me "don't drive faster than your gardian angel can fly". Be safe and have a wonderful time. ![]()

OfflineWell, it WAS great! Almost everyone made it. Someone didn't come due to illness, but I am too brain dead right now to tell you who it was…
Maybe tomorrow the body will have recovered enough to think about that? And maybe share a few good stories.
Then again, maybe what happens at retreat is best left at retreat? There certainly were a lot of good times, but some of us are VERY tired.
Has anyone seen my keys? My cane?? Did I spill that lotion/coffee/water/tea/sauce?? Who me???
